I found this museum very interesting and very well done, running from the first inhabitants to statehood. Located in the Palace of the Governors on the main plaza of Santa Fe, the governor's home is also open to visitors. Prices at the gift shop are not inflated and of good quality.

This attraction is coupled with a visit to the Governor's Palace and is well worth the walk across the plaza. A comprehensive summary of the territory from the early days to the present.

We enjoy going to local places of history and learning the stories they have to tell. This place did not disappoint. We expected to just go inside and wander around. Outside is a group of vetted artisans you can buy some pretty amazing stuff. Inside, we were told there would be a tour. The tour was free and the gentleman spent 1 hour telling us all about the history of New Mexico and that part of the world. It was informative as well as being entertaining.
