“Pricey Vietnamese food”
Reviewed 25 September 2013

Very nice atmosphere in this place. Waitstaff was friendly but they seemed confused as to who was going to serve us at first. We ordered spring rolls and 2 entrees. The spring rolls left a lot to be desired. They were very light bodied and for the price should have been twice the size of the serving. Noodle bowls we ordered were delicious but didn't ring in my head as "Vietnamese" food. Maybe this restaurant is based off a more regional style of Vietnamese food? Check it out sometime... but I dont see us frequenting this place ever.

“Good food but lacking everywhere else”
Reviewed 29 August 2013

I actually found out about this restaurant by overhearing diners at the next table rave about it while dining somewhere else. The food here is good, above average, although I wouldn't say outstanding. However, the service was terrible as the two waiters could not coordinate with each other and I got two drinks, two checks, etc. The decor and the atmosphere reeked cheapness, with paper napkins, Christmas tree lights, and whatnot. This is definitely the case of a cook who knows the food but doesn't have a clue as to how to run a business.

My other complaint is that I thought as good as the food was it represented a subpar value. One of the things that makes Santa Fe a difficult place to run a restaurant business is that there are lots of above average restaurants. I've been to more than a dozen different ones in the last six months. Simply having good food in this town isn't good enough, one has to have an above average /dining experience/ if one wants to charge top dollar; this place just doesn't have that.

“Not a traditional Vietnamese restaurant”
Reviewed 27 July 2013

Although this restaurant bears a Vietnamese name, the food is not true Vietnamese. We surmise this restaurant serves Cambodian-style dishes. As an example, one of the most popular appetizers is spring rolls. Traditionally, these rolls have pork and/or shrimps which are simply boiled, without curry. And the dipping sauce is traditionally soybean based, not curry based. There were only two choices for dessert. We do not recommend the coconut flan. Service wise, our waitress didn't seem knowledgeable of the menu.

“A bit out of the way, but worth it!”
Reviewed 6 July 2013

If you are visiting historic Santa Fe, you will need to travel a bit out of the way for this meal, but it will be well worth the drive. Lan prepares a vibrant, healthy dish for any taste, and if you are lucky, you get to meet the chef herself. I especially enjoy the vegetarian options. The vegetables are fresh and the spice combinations are awesome. You must try Lan's and see for yourself!
