“Great location/Hot tub/Unprofessional/Disorganized”
Reviewed 28 July 2012

The Luxx Plaza Hotel is a new hotel near the Plaza. It is very disorganized, non accommodating and not very professional. We arrived w/ one of the workers on the phone, giving rates to a customer while trying to check us in at the SAME time, totally unprofessional. The parking garage was a pain in the you-know-what. We had to grab a scan key from the workers EVERY time we had to park AND leave. The parking lot guy started a fight w/ us about it. The staff is unprepared and gave excuses and reasons for every issue we had. We were also told there is NO room service. However, we did have room service and it was very good. They have a hot tub, which was great. Those two things led me to give this place and AVERAGE review. If not, it would be a POOR review.

The rooms were very dark and we had only one window. The decor was cheap looking. My husband and I ended up staying one more night than expected and we booked our new hotel at La Posada. HIGHLY recommend it!

AGAIN, the only TWO things my husband and I appreciated about this place was the hot tub & the location!

Interesting designer hotel in the heart of historic Santa Fe. This hotel is unique, reasonably price and very convenient to historic plaza. The rooms were tastefully decorated, and the beds are comfortable. Our room was at the back of the building so it had no window but had back access door. This made the room exceptionally dark, which I didn't like. However; did make it very easy to "sleep in".
Justin who was the desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The parking was somewhat confusing, they use a garage next door but the access was difficult because there were not enough pass keys. The management needs to remedy this situation. Other than that no complaints.

Great to arrive, park and partake of the Plaza. I greatly appreciated the gated parking for my motorcycle, but would have been a pain if I wanted to come and go. Staff helped us find good food when we arrived late and showed us how to work everything. Right across from the library. I didn't appreciate the "resort" upcharge for parking.
Rooms are small but well appointed. Nice touches abound from linens to Google tv with wireless keyboard to toilettries.

Room Tip: 10 was quiet

Luxx enjoys a great location to explore and enjoy central Santa Fe and the Plaza, with many restaurants nearby (a sushi place and a coffee/ice cream shop at the hotel’s entrance, for example, but virtually none open early mornings for this early riser). Rooms are decorated in a modern style and are modest in size and not entirely well organized (no vanity by the sink so no place to put things). Nice quiet AC and off the road (the hotel’s 14 rooms are actually in the back area of some shops, so no view etc.) made sleeping easy. Wifi was great; tv system uses computer controls and so quite complex for the non-electronic savy operator. Sadly, if you plan to drive around much, Luxx’s parking arrangements will complicate matters, especially on weekends (when we visited). They have access to an adjacent parking garage open 7:30 am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday, but afterhours access requires hotel management (not always present but callable by phone) to come open/close the garage’s access gates using a special pass. There’s some on street paid parking ($1/hour with 2 hour limits Monday thru Saturdays 8am to 6pm), but it’s a very busy area and so largely unavailable and definitely unpredictable.

The staff was not helpful with directions on parking when we arrived. Tried overcharging. No keys, just a keypad for each room. They need to have more supervision by the owners/managers, or this place is doomed to fail. It was clean and quiet and very well located.

The other reviews are correct, in that you need to know exactly what you're getting with this hotel before booking. There is an extra amenity fee, and the front desk doesn't operate 24/7. The parking is also a bit inconvenient but doable once you get your head around whats going on. Anyway, you're reading this review, so you know about these things... And so there's no reason for you to not to go.

The location, first of all, is fantastic. We walked all over with no problems. The room is also very pretty and uniquely decorated. It doesn't feel like the same old hotel room at all. I know it's small, but the free toiletries smelled fantastic! The tv is the best hotel tv I've ever seen.... There's Internet and a million channels and I think maybe even a DVD player. The common patio is very nice and we met a ton of friendly travelers out there. The value compared to other hotels in town is great, especially for this location. Finally, the people who work here absolutely made our stay in NM a dream. Alex was working at the front desk when we arrived - he's super laid back but was very sweet and helpful. We also met the owner on the patio and he's great - and very passionate about his hotel. We didn't have any problems, but I'm sure he would address any concerns immediately.

In short, this hotel is nontraditional, but If you go in with eyes open you can have an amazing experience, like we did. I'll stay here every time I come to Santa Fe!

First of all, the pictures and descriptions on the site are very misleading(lies). These are not 'casitas'. A 'casita' would be a small house and these are not even that. We booked this hotel thinking we were getting 2 bedrooms and at least a small sitting room/entryway. It also said that it sleeps 5, a queen bed and two single beds. Well, when we got there, the hotel sits behind two store fronts. There is no lobby at all. When we got to the room, you walk into the first 'bedroom'. It looks like somebody converted the sitting area into a bedroom by adding a day bed in there. The two single beds were a day bed with a roll-out mattress. Now had we known this, we wouldn't have booked it. We have 14 and 16 year old boy and girl. There was no way they were going along with these sleeping arrangements. The only closet was in the first bedroom. The main bedroom had no closet so our stuff was all over the room. The bed took up most of the space so there was no place to move around or sit to watch tv when we were trying to relax in our room(except on the bed). It would have been ok, had it just been 2 people, but for four it is just not enough space. Had we known this and not been deceived by the pictures and descriptions, we would have made other arrangements. Instead we booked this, ended up leaving early, were miserable because it was so cramped, and didn't get the money back for the two nights we had already payed. They gave us a credit to come back for a free night. No thanks, I wouldn't even stay there for free. Location is all this place has going for it. There are other hotels in downtown Santa Fe that have a great location. I would check out ANY of those before coming back to this hotel and ruining another vacation.

Room Tip: Not for families. Our room window faced a back alley.
