“Dog-friendly inside here and the Sambusco Shopping Center!”
Reviewed 30 September 2012

We stumbled upon The Lucky Bean on our walk with our pooch from the Eldorado Hotel down through the Guadalupe and Rail Yard Shopping Districts. They not only have patio dining, they'll even let you take your pooch inside! This little coffee nook is around the corner off to the side of the cavernous room that takes you in through the back way to the Sambusco Shopping "Mall". Conversely, you can enter Sambusco through the front and continue on through it until you come to the door into the cavernous room. Either way, there is nothing that shouts to you, "this way to the coffee shop". I do wonder what they use that big room for.

We ordered a large Iced Mocha to go and it was plenty for both of us to quench our thirst and elevate our energy level. It had the most dark chocolate syrup of any mocha I've ever had, and the coffee was a rich dark roast.

Their food menu is fairly limited with breakfast burritos, and turkey, ham and cheese, tuna and egg salad being pretty much the selection as far as sandwiches go. There are about 4 tables inside and 3 for outdoor dining. Both of the people working the place seemed a bit spacey, so be patient and they'll be friendly and treat you right.

We really did like being able to take our dog in; since we went back outside after receiving our order, I don't know if you'd have to go back around the corner to the big room or even outside to eat, or if they would let you sit at one of their indoor tables with your dog to eat.

Continuing on into Sambusco, we also found a pet supplies boutique where we picked up a couple of items for the doggie, including a spray foam that is supposed to freshen breath. I don't think the signage on the Sambusco side of the building has the name of either of these shops, so I hope people manage to find them.

“Great coffee, tremendous breakfast burritos!”
Reviewed 19 September 2012

Best coffee in Santa Fe. The breakfast burritos are very good and an amazing deal @ $4.50. Many vegan options as well.

“Nice place for breakfast!”
Reviewed 21 June 2012

We found this place while searching in vain for a Flying Star restaurant. It was quite good, nothing special but still nice. It is attached to a small indoor mall, but the restaurant itself occupies a cavernous space. An inexpensive way to start the day.

“Great Addition to the Railyard/Sanbusco”
Reviewed 13 January 2012

We were very pleasantly surprised by our experience at the Lucky Bean earlier this month. Occupying a small part of the former Borders space at Sanbusco Center, this little cafe has a diverse menu, reasonable prices and good service. The owner told us she has only been there for six months, and believes she has finally found a good rhythm for the business. We agree. The broad array of breakfast foods, sandwiches, pastries and drinks (hot and cold) makes it a good place to relax for a while any time during the day. The service is friendly and responsive, and the ambiance is laid-back. Oh yes -- free wi-fi, too. We found it a refreshing and relaxing alternative to the various restaurants that dot the surrounding area, where it's somewhat harder to sit down and just relax with a light repast. If they keep it up, we reckon these ladies will be very successful.
