Granted, we were tired and hungry by the time we got to the Hotel Chimayo, but having this excellent restaurant was a very welcome surprise. The BEST guacamole and Southwestern food I've had anywhere, and reasonably priced. The next day was went to the place everyone had recommended - another trendy (and crowded) Santa Fe restaurant - but after seeing the long wait, we went back to the Tia Cocina. Food doesn’t get any better than this. John had tamales and I had a vegetable soup. Mine came with cornbread and John’s came with fry bread. Our table was on a balcony overlooking the street. Discover this hidden treasure for yourself! It's bound to get very popular soon...

We stayed at the Hotel Chimayo and wanted to stay in one night for dinner. My husband went up to the restaurant to get dinners to go and they helped him bring the dinners to the room. That was very kind since they don't advertise room service. We had a traditional New Mexican meal using recipes of locals in the Chimayo area. The chef throws in his skills and it was a very good dinner. We have eaten in Santa Fe for many years and this was a nice one.

Upstairs with fire going in the fireplace. Cozy old style construction, delicious breakfast opens at 7:00 am. Terrific NM style omelet!

Tia's is located on the second floor of the Hotel Chimayo de Santa Fe near the Plaza, a perfect location around the corner from the Palace of Governors. We had breakfast at about 10:00 A.M. on a Wednesday and had the patio all to ourselves in the gorgeous October weather. The service was exceptional, and the food not-to-be-forgotten. I had heurvos rancheros and my husband had their eggs benedict. We both decided the benedict was the most unique and flavorful incarnation of his favorite receipe ever. It included a New Mexico-style spicy sauce with all the lemony goodness. My rancheros was the best I have ever tasted. We could not let a single drop of either to be left on the plate. Do not miss Tia's!
