“A great place to stay”
Reviewed 7 July 2012

My wife and I have stayed at the Old Santa Fe Inn, Santa Fe, NM, a number of times during the past 10 years, and we've enjoyed each of our stays. We regretted having only one night to stay at the Inn this time. As in the past, the room was excellent and the staff and breakfast were just great. The Inn is so convenient to the town square that we park the car and walk everywhere that we want to go.

Just love the old Inn and the staff. A great place to relax and recover from our travels.

Room Tip: I can't think of a bad room that we've had at this Inn.

This was our first visit to Santa Fe. I had read wonderful comments about the food, shopping, etc. I read and read reviews wanting to book the perfect hotel at a reasonable price. Maybe my expectations were just too high.

After some dicussion with our GPS we finally found Old Santa Fe Inn. We pulled into the gravel parking lot to a rather small motel. Check in was easy and staff very helpful and friendly. I had booked a Jr King suite...hoping for a nice room. The room was located across the gravel parking lot in the corner. We were able to park outside of our room.

As we entered the room I was surprised how small and dark the room was. Yes, there was a small kiva fireplace in the room.It had a small flame lit the entire time, I could not figure out how to turn it off. Bathroom was small with one sink outside of the shower tub/toilet area. Poor water pressure in our room. There were only 2 or 3 small windows on one side of the room that were covered with dark shutters. The windows faced the parking lot. If you wanted fresh air or natural light in the room you would be overlooking the parking lot and the walkway outside our room. We could hear the TV from next door, so walls were thin. Bed was very comfy ,We could not get wifi to work in our room. There wasn't a dresser in the room and storage was limited. The room did have a microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, safe, Iron and Ironing board.

Easy 3 block walk to downtown (you could hear church bells from our room).

On a positive note, the breakfast was just lovely and the cookies from 4-6 were a nice touch.

I have to say that I really wasn't blown away by Santa Fe. We did enjoy visiting some local wineries and the museum of Folk Art was amazing. If we did return ( and that is a big IF) we would not stay at Old Santa Fe Inn.

Sounds like this person was just not happy being in Santa Fe, and that disappointment spread to Old Santa Fe Inn. This is written more as a review of our entire city than it is a review of our Inn. I do not want anyone to be disappointed in our Inn, however, and if the person who wrote this review would like to get in touch to talk about what we might have done differently or better, I would welcome that discussion.

We have just left Santa Fe after a two night stay at the Old Santa Fe Inn. This hotel was truly wonderful. From a warm welcome on arrival, to a large, tastefully decorated bedroom (the bed is exceptionally comfortable!), to the delicious afternoon cookies - cannot recommend it highly enough. We stayed here towards the end of our road trip through the mountain states, and it is one of the best hotels we visited. The location is a short stroll from The Plaza and all the shops, not to mention great restaurants. We also loved Santa Fe! A definite 11 out of 10 for us!

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 1 and were able to park right outside.

Clean, spacious, well-appointed rooms, outstanding breakfast buffet and afternoon chips/guacamole/cookies, uniformly friendly staff, and free high-speed internet and parking (with a space right in front of your room, not a garage or valet setup.) Right in the heart of Santa Fe, about two blocks from the Railyard and 3-4 from the Plaza--- you can walk to just about anything you want to see. For bicyclists, being 2 blocks from the start of the Santa Fe Rail Trail is another plus. It's true that the bathroom (tub + toilet) is small, but there's a large sink outside the door--- I actually prefer this layout as more livable. Pets allowed for an additional $20/night fee.

Room Tip: With the 10% discount for 3 or more nights, our Junior Suite wound up about $150/night, which seems...

There two nights. Easy walk to many sites of interest and restaurants. Nice breakfast buffet. Dining room more like a restaurant than what you find at many motels that have a free breakfast. Rooms clean and in good condition. The AC was not working in our room and within an hour from when the front desk was first notified they had they AC service company there looking at it and the repair was able to be made.

Nice place to stay but the bathroom is the smallest I have ever seen for a suite - very close to new York hotels. The bed practically takes the whole room with the king size. Patio area is kind of strange on bottom floor - resembles a townhouse backyard. Service is excellent! Free Internet and parking is good also. Thanks!

Spent 2 nights at this warm and wonderful Inn. Location was perfect for walking around as it was conveniently located to many sites. Staff welcoming and helpful. Rooms warm and inviting. Very clean. Breakfast was pleasant and had a variety of items. Would have liked to stay a week there. Will definitely be coming back.
