“Not bad, but not great”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

I've visited Kai twice...once eating in & once take-out. I would suggest that a sushi connoisseur look elsewhere in Santa Fe (specifically Sushi Land East) for their sushi fix. If the service wasn't so bad, I would probably rate Kai a 4, as the food is above average. The staff is in need of training, as their approach is very flat. They seem overwhelmed & uninformed about the cuisine.

“Best sushi in Santa Fe”
Reviewed 11 December 2013

I have lived in Santa Fe for 10 years. My daughter lives in San Francisco. I eat a lot of sushi in both places. Kai and Shoko are the best for nigori and sashimi. I do not eat fancy rolls! Rice quality is very important and Fish quality is the most important thing! If you eat fancy rolls fish and rice quality become less important. So if you think like l do eat at Kai. If you want fancy rolls they have them to. Parking is easy and prices are the best. Nice people too!

“Good Sushi, Good Prices”
Reviewed 19 April 2013

Don't let the strip mall store front fool you. Good Sushi with good prices. More of a neighborhood restaurant feel. Tonight we had the Monster Roll, Tempura, Baked Samon Roll. Very good sushi. Good prices for Sushi happy hour.

“Yum!”
Reviewed 13 October 2012 via mobile

Food was delish! Specials very inventive. The waitstaff is very attentive.
The fish is so fresh. They have a happy hour special that brings the prices down, I would have been wary but had also been here for lunch previously and fell in love

“Good quality sushi, nice presentation”
Reviewed 28 September 2012 via mobile

I chose this restaurant based on TripAdvisor reviews and was not disappointed with the freshness, quality, flavor, and presentation of the Red & Red roll (tasty!) and spicy tuna roll. They did a great job concocting their spicy ponzu sauce...rich flavors with just the right amount of spiciness. Reasonable happy hour prices were an added bonus. The service was prompt and attentive though the server was not especially friendly. Surprised they didn't have iced green tea, but the regular iced tea was just fine. First time having sushi in Santa Fe...Glad I picked Kai Sushi.
