“Great French Street Food from an Airstream Trailer”
Review of Le Pod - CLOSED

Le Pod
Cuisines: French
Description: This may just be a food truck, but it is also one of the best places to eat in Santa Fe. Check out the comments found here on Trip Advisor and their Facebook page and other reviews. The crepes are fantastic, the soups are the best in Santa Fe and the owners are friendly and accomodating. Le Pod is quickly becoming one of the "must try" places in Santa Fe!

This is a unique place to get lunch in Santa Fe. Le Pod is located in a 1960;'s vintage Airstream trailer across the street from the New Mexico State House. Chef Jean-Luc Salles and his assistant were very friendly, and helped us with directions/highlights around Santa Fe.

The food is lovingly prepared french comfort style. You order at a walk up window in the side of the trailer. We had the Crepes Oceanne and the French Dip baguette. Most items are around
$ 8.00 and there are picnic tables adjacent to the trailer

Note that while parking is free for a short visit for lunch, this is a pay lot. If you intend to park and leave your car there for an extended time, you must pay the owner. She sits in a large Hummer H2. The lot closes once legislature lets out, so let her know if you want to stay longer and she will accomodate you in an adjacent lot.

Service is friendly, but not fast, but that's OK. The food was great. There are picnic tables in the parking lot. It was sunny so we made use of them before we took a walking tour of Santa Fe. I wish I could go back and try more of the offerings. Stop there for lunch if you are visitng Santa Fe. This is a welcome change if you've had more Mexican food than you can stomach!

LePod has the most amazing, fresh and hot crepes - dessert or a meal - straight for the chef in a renovated pod trailer. Imagine steamy, tres chessey creps while relaxing under their camper type umbrella on folding camp chairs across the street for the state capital. Very chic and a great detour from the regular tourist fare.

Located in a vacant lot at the intersection of Old Santa Fe Trail and Paseo del Peralta, this tiny Airstream trailer is a repository of the most amazing French food in Santa Fe. The crepes are sweet or savory, the soups are rich and flavorful. I have yet to try the sandwiches but am intrigued by the "frog dog", a frank served in a baguette topped with melted cheese and green chile. Kudos to the owners for sticking it out during Santa Fe's breezy spring months. I'm sure the summer will bring them ample rewards with the influx of hungry tourists! Note that they only serve during the lunch period and only on weekdays...for now.

So I usually wouldn't take the time to review food from a food truck, but Le Pod is so much more than one would expect. We have been several times now and we have not been even the slightest bit disappointed. We have tried several soups, and all of them were excellent, but the potato leek and green chile is to die for! Creamy and delicious, packed full of flavor with just the right touch of green chile, every bite is a treat. Just thinking about it makes me want a bowl. The crepes are thin and delicious as well, and you can choose from a regular crepe batter or a buchwheat crepe which is gluten-free. The crepe Normandie is especially divine- braised pork, caramelized apples, crispy onions and cornichons. I wasn't sure how much I would like it, but one bite into the crepe - which was big enough to share when paired with a small soup - and I was sold. The lemon and sugar dessert crepe is wonderful as well. Other crepe choices are available - ham and cheese, seafood, chicken and mushroom, and Végétarienne as well as another few dessert crepes. Gluten-free and vegetarian diners won't be disappointed. There are also "Frog dogs," Le Pod's version of a hotdog served in a baguette and the decadent Gratin Dauphinois--cheesy, creamy scalloped potatoes.

Another plus is the wonderful staff. Friendly and welcoming, they aim to please. Look for the shiny airstream in the parking lot across Santa Fe Trail from Kaune's. You won't be sorry!
