“Great place to stay”
Reviewed 27 June 2012

Its in a great location, an easy walk to the plaza. The hotel is great and the staff are better still. We had the Lavendar room, which was great as we had the two loungers right outside our door. This was great to come back to after being out for the day and ralaxing with a bottle of wine. All the contents of the fridge in the room are complimentary and replenished daily. This was especially appreciated due to the amout of water one should consume in Santa Fe. Th eother great thing was that there was no tipping. Not that we mind tipping, but not having to have the hassle especially when breakfast is delivered to our room was great. Highly recommend this hotel.

Anyone who has read any of my previous reviews of world-wide properties can easily see that I'm almost never at a loss for words in describing a place we have stayed The Inn of the Five Graces has me tongue-tied (OK, keyboard-tied). It is so utterly, astonishingly great that I am absolutely unable to conjure up adequate words to describe why we loved it more than any other urban hotel we have visited. But I'll try.

The suite we stayed in was like a warm, welcoming museum. Wonderful dhurrie rugs on the floor, gorgeous hand-made Asian textiles on the walls, antiques everywhere, and a shower with walls and ceiling covered with a wondrous mosaic designed by the hotel's owner and his wife, Ira and Sylvia Seret.. I had the pleasure of meeting him twice at his store, the source of the decor of the rooms. He doesn't manage the hotel (he leaves that to his very capable son, Sharif), but we did visit him at his huge 70,000 sq. ft. emporium -- Seret & Sons -- , which is crammed with rugs, doors, tilework, sculptures, etc. either made in in plants he owns in central Asia or purchased from various sources, including Indian palaces undergoing updating and renovation. (I left the store a few dollars lighter after purchasing an antique Mughal elephant). Ira is utterly delightful, and his personality infuses not only the physical aspects of the Inn, but it has also infected the staff, which is the most genuinely friendly, helpful, and caring staff I have encountered anywhere.

The Inn is an absolute "must-stay" if you are anywhere within the Santa Fe area code.

This is definitely the best place to stay in Santa Fe. The mix of ideal location, excellent service, great accommodations and local ambiance cannot be beat. Everything went very smoothly from the time we arrived. The casitas are nice with a living room, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom all as separate rooms. We enjoyed spending time in the outdoor space which had a fountain, nice lounge chairs and fireplace. It was a great place to relax with a bottle of wine.

In addition to the refrigerator being stocked with great snacks and drinks, the staff provided homemade treats every day that were great. The breakfast each morning was also good and served al fresco in a great space.

The staff was very helpful and fulfilled requests almost instantly. I forgot my cell phone charger, and when we asked if they had one, they were at our door within 60 seconds, with the charger.

It is really hard to describe the quaint charm of this hotel without seeing it. It reminds me of Carmel with a Southwestern landscape. I would never stay anywhere else for a romantic weekend. Everything was perfect.

The Inn of the Five Graces is really a compound of several separate buildings, integrated by a whimsical Arabian-themed décor. Exotic tile designs “grace” the bath area walls. Intricate screens lend mystery and charm to the rooms. I half expected Scheherazade herself to show up in our room and regale us with her tales.
The fact that the Inn has a compound structure spreads the rooms out over the property, and thus lends a wonderful feeling of privacy to each room. There are abundant courtyards, allowing you to relax outside, with your personal choice of sun or shade.
The Inn is well-located within Santa Fe, providing easy walking access to the Santa Fe Plaza region in one direction (with great museums) and the artsy (and famous) Canyon Road shops in another direction. Excellent restaurants abound everywhere. One of our favorites was Café Pasqual’s.
I need to mention a special treat: the bedding. The top-layer portion of the Inn beds are feather-filled, and they are Oh! so comfortable. We slept fabulously.
The staff is relentless in assuring that you have everything you might need to make your stay perfect. Breakfast is really excellent, with a dazzling array of delicious choices. Try eating outside on the patio!
Bottom line: a terrific place to stay. You can be sure that we’ll be returning soon!

Too many good things to narrow down to a few good things about The Inn of the Five Graces. We were wowed at every turn. The experience at The Inn is like no other experience. Service doesn't miss a beat. The Inn was almost full, but we felt like we were the only guests...super quiet! We will never stay anywhere else in Santa Fe.

This is a real gem. The rooms are incredible and the staff bends over backwards to help. The decor is funkly and delightful, the courtyards are inviting, and the location is just about perfect.

Stay here, you will not be disapointed.

We went back and forth as to where to stay in Santa Fe. So glad we relied on the fabuous tripadvisor reviews for the Inn of the Five Graces. I'm a firm believer in the fact that the hotel can make the vacation. This is so true of the Inn. I can't begin to sing the praises of all the staff, our accomondations, the location, and the fabulous, charming, beautiful Inn of the Five Graces. We were going to Taos, Joshua at the desk has pre-printed directions. The breakfast included feature really is a consideration. It was delicious! Just don't miss this gem. It is the best splurge
ever.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
In one of Santa Fe’s most historic neighborhoods, designers Ira and Sylvia Seret, transformed a neglected cluster of traditional adobe buildings into a unique hotel. As internationally-known importers of exotic antiques, rugs, textiles and architectural elements, the Serets conceived the hotel as a showcase for their combined creative talents. From its 1996 opening as “Serets’ 1001 Nights”, the 24-suite hotel has been a magical retreat, brimming with the most exquisite of the Serets’ treasures, collected on travels through Central and South Asia. Sylvia Seret’s glorious, one-of-a-kind tile mosaics adorn the suites’ kitchens and bathrooms, while Ira Seret’s signature design style makes every space an extraordinary living experience. In 2002 the Inn was renamed to honor its sensuous atmosphere along with its many Afghan and Tibetan artifacts. The name, “Five Graces”, refers to an Eastern concept — the five graces of sight, sound, touch, smell, and taste. Each needs to be honored in the full experience of life. Over the years, the Serets’ original vision has been continually developed with meticulous attention to excellent service, cuisine, and comfort as the Inn has grown into newly acquired properties on its historic street. They continually enhance the hotel’s visual experience, updating design elements and collection pieces throughout. The Inn’s mission is to offer guests a uniquely unforgettable experience. ... more   less
