Description: India Palace located in the heart of downtown Santa Fe. Is the oldest Indian restaurant in New Mexico, serving Santa Fe since 1990. In 1997, India Palace hired a new chef by the name of Billu to be their head chef. In 1998 he left the restaurant. In the summer of 2013, Billu bought the restaurant and restored the taste and quality of the 1990's. India Palace now has the authentic taste that comes with skilled chefs from India. All spices are imported from India to give you that authentic Indian taste. Come try our food, we will be around for years to come.

“Excellent Quality. Selection and Value lunch Buffet”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 May 2013

We have been going to the India Palace in downtown Santa Fe for 20 years for the excellent lunch buffet. Lately, it has been even better than usual! The selection is extensive with a fine selection of vegetarian and meat dishes. The accompanying chutnis (tamarind and a terrific green) as well as the yoghurt raita, which we eat by the bowl, are very fresh and flavorful. There is also romaine lettuce, cucumber and tomatoes for a salad with Italian dressing. The wonderful chai is a bottomless cup which the waiters cheerfully refill when they pass by with the chai pot. The waiters also serve, as part of the buffet, fresh naan from the tandoori oven, either plain or yummy garlic, as requested. Other Indian restaurants in town only offer this bread on the steam table! Two desserts (my favorite, the delicate rice pudding) as well as a selection of fresh fruit are available to finish off the meal (with more chai, of course). The quality of all the ingredients is outstanding, as we realize every time we pry ourselves away to retry another Indian Restaurant. Waiters are efficient and pleasant, eager to please and to make certain that customers are enjoying the food. The indoor dining area is attractive, with table cloths and Indian music and wall decorations.
We only go for the lunch buffet as we live a distance from Santa Fe, but it's one of our favorite places in Santa Fe for a tasty, healthful, cheerful, and good value lunch. The restaurant is usually quite full and busy at lunch time, but there is extra seating in a pleasant garden area when the weather gets warmer. It's great to see Indian folks eating there (always a good sign) and sometimes large groups for special occassions. It's family friendly as well, and kids seem to know and love certain dishes.

“When you're tired of green chilis, a good alternative”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 April 2013

Competent Indian food, centrally located, pleasant service. I first came here about 16 years ago. The food is competent (not outstanding, but pretty good) and is generally exactly what you expect. The tandoori chicken is moist and flavorful, the biryanis are not too dry and not sticky, the breads are hot and (almost always) not too oily. You won't be stunned by a new taste or sensation, but they do a good job. Limited wine and beer selections, but there are a couple of good choices.

“Excellant Indian food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 April 2013

We go for their lunch buffet every time we visit santa fe. We have never been disappointed. Their food is always delicious. The garlic nan is amazing and the saag paneer is wonderful. We havent eaten anything that we dont like there. The lunch buffet is reasonable priced and a great place to introduce a person to Indian food.

“Tandoori Chicken nahi hai”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 March 2013 via mobile

Sadly they were out of Tandoori chicken at 7:00 pm on Tuesday with a half full restaurant. Tikka Kebab had no Masala. Very bland. Naan was pretty good. Space was fine. Servers were a little dour.
