“Excellent New Mexican Breakfast Spot!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 June 2014

We ate breakfast at Tia Sophia's Restaurant in Santa Fe several years ago. We remembered great food and excellent service and our memory served us well. Tia Sophia's is basically a block from the plaza in Santa Fe. My husband had the blueberry pancakes with fresh blueberries. He didn't leave a morsel. My huevos rancheros were perfectly prepared and the serving was huge - I just couldn't finish it all. The place was packed but our service was spot-on. Even though they were busy the manager took time to give us a map and show us different spots around the plaza. We will plan another trip to Tia Sophia's the next time we are in Santa Fe - and I suggest you give it a try!

“Best Red Chile”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 June 2014

When you eat in a city like Santa Fe, a city rich in authentic Mexican cuisine, it almost becomes a competition between restaurants to find your favorite...(insert favorite menu item here). This battle for me was the battle of the red and green chile sauces. Slathered on many menu items, it becomes the perfect complement to the traditional Mexican dishes. If you cannot choose between red and green, choose to have your meal "Christmas Style", which is a sampling of both.
Tia Sophia is a quaint little place that had fast and friendly service, and the best red chile sauce in our six days of sampling around town. Not too spicy and packed full of flavor, it was my clear winner! (For the record, my favorite green sauce came from the Old House restaurant in the Eldorado Hotel and Spa). Tia Sophia is a great little 'Mom & Pop" place, it is not to be missed. Expect a wait on the weekend, their breakfast is amazing and everyone knows it. (Don't forget the red chile sauce!)

“Breakfast lunch, great food, fast, close to downtown”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 June 2014

This place is not far from the downtown plaza but is neither fancy nor expensive. It has great daily specials. The food is great and the serving staff very friendly.

“two local merchants recommended”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 June 2014

We had been shopping in this area and I asked a couple of store owners to suggest a place for lunch. One gentleman chuckled and said "I'm always glad when my wife doesn't have time to cook breakfast. I ALWAYS go to Tia's for breakfast." The waiter who helped us was a comedian, has been a waiter at Tia's for 19 years. It's a family owned place, very clean. You can order French fries and hamburger for the kids, but go for the Mexican dishes. Yum yum. It's located a couple of blocks from the square. Looking around, you can tell locals eat lunch there and tourists consider it a lucky find.

“Good Mexican food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 June 2014

We were visiting the plaza area in Santa Fe. We asked a lady in a jewelry shop where a good place for lunch was and she said this place was very good. This is real good authentic New Mexico style Mexican food. They put a lot of red or green sauce on the food with a lot of melted cheese too. You get these wonderful sopapillas instead of chips. These are sort of like a big biscuit that you put honey on. Very good. The only real complaint is that they do not sell beer or wine or liquor. It would have been great to have had a cold beer to go with the food.
