“Landmark Movie House BUT only center aisle”
Reviewed 14 March 2014

Wonderful landmark and piece of history with great selection of vintage/unusual films shown. Nice refreshment area with good buttered popcorn. However, the space is rather small and there is a center aisle with seating on either side. Therefore, if you like to sit "in the middle", this is not the place for you. Also, you can wind up sitting next to the wall (which companion did not like) after, of course, climbing the people in the row.. Not the most comfortable theater. Go early since there are generally lines and parking can be difficult as well.

“New and old at the same time”
Reviewed 21 August 2013

Everything old about the Jean Cocteau theater that was worth preserving has been. Past visitors will find all the same art deco charm, buttered popcorn, festival-style film introductions, sit-down tables, and choice, art house movies. The new projector provides even crisper images. The space is small so it has been packed every time I've visited (summer) and there are lines/queues on the sidewalk outside. Staff has to hustle to find every last seat for patient guests so go early until things settle. There is a great creative energy about the place now that adds much to the experience.
