Description: Tecolote Cafe was started in 1980 by Bill and Alice Jennison with a desire to feed guests great meals, affordably, with superior service. Mr. Bill and Alice's recipes have been pleasing palettes for 31 years. In May of 2010, sadly, we lost Mr. Bill after a long and accomplished life. Since August 2010, Katherine Adkins (Bill and Alice's daughter) and her husband Matt Adkins have been doing their best to honor Mr. Bill and Ms. Alice's vision in carrying on the family business. Sadly we also lost Ms.Alice in December of 2012. We offer a varied menu focusing primarily on New Mexican breakfast and lunch cuisine, as well as some American favorites. We bake all of our breads in house as well as our muffins and biscuits contained in our bakery basket. A little known secret to our great burgers? Fresh baked Kaiser rolls to vehicle our superb patties and ingredients. Whether you come for breakfast or lunch, we are sure you will be pleased with our delectable choices and our warm, friendly atmosphere. If you aren't, just let us know so we can make your experience everything you hoped for!Katie and I can't wait to see you on your next visit. So, come on in, and remember, we serve "Great breakfast, No toast!", just for you.

“Great brunch, terrific service”
Reviewed 9 November 2012

We were happy to be able to stop here on our way out of Santa Fe after discovering that it was closed on Mondays. We were given the option of sitting at the community table, which was available immediately or waiting for a private table. The service was friendly and prompt, and our food came out within 5 minutes of our order: Carne y huevos (lean pork cooked in a spicy and flavorful red chile sauce, served with two fried eggs and potatoes) and breakfast burrito topped with housemade green chile sauce (yum!) and potatoes, both accompanied by a bakery basket of assorted muffins and followed by a bowl of perfect fresh red raspberries. We never had to ask for a refill on the coffee - our cups were kept full. My husband expressed interest in buying one of their T-shirts, and our waitress cheerfully brought out every color and style available. She even wrapped up our remaining muffins "to go" so we could enjoy them later. The quality and preparation of the food, the service and the ambience were all terrific. The portions are, if anything, too large. Great value, and a memorable experience. I'd be a regular if I lived in Santa Fe.

“Great breakfast!”
Reviewed 25 October 2012

Came in from out of town and everyone said this was the place to go. It was! Great breakfast with lots of variety. Pancakes, omlets, and mexican staples. We enjoyed the food. Older waitress was a little impatient and we asked for a side of salsa (customary at most places). She brought it but when we got the bill, she charged us $2.50. Crazy! I would go back for the food all day long just not sit in her section again!

“Great Breakfast...No Toast”
Reviewed 25 October 2012

Favorite of locals for chili-laced breakfasts. Service was superb and good people watching. Various muffin types take the place of toast. Menu favors spicy food preparation.

“a great breakfast”
Reviewed 20 October 2012

I had been to the Tecolote Café over 10 years ago and told my boyfriend that we had to eat breakfast there since we were in Sante Fe.

It was a wait to get in (10-15 minutes?) since the place isn't that large. Once in though, the staff was friendly. We shared the blue corn/piñón pancakes (a favorite of mine) and then separate "regular" breakfast items. The pancakes were just as heavenly as I remembered them to be. The other breakfast foods were fine too, but not as great (to me anyway) as the pancakes. The restaurant has "standard fare" breakfast food, but usually with a New Mexican twist (chillies, blue corn, pine nuts, tortillas...).

For the price, we felt that the food and service were good.

I would definitely return there for breakfast!

Always a good place to stop, especially for breakfast. A popular place with locals and out of towners.
