Doug is one of best pianists and singers anywhere. The piano bar is very large and the food is very good. Doug Montgomery is absolutely the best. He can play anything from classical, jazz, show tunes, blues etc. He is the consummate showman. There is no cover charge but there should be.Don't miss him. Be sure to get there earlyas the bar is firs come first serve.

Large dining room and Sante Fe room. Great live entertainment nightly with fun groups. Food was good and cooked well. Dining room gets smoky when the steaks are on the grill. Desserts simple but tasty. Maintenance needs to pick up the pace a bit.

While passing through Santa Fe, we narrowed the search for a top quality restaurant to Vanessie of Santa Fe. The food was excellent. The piano bar was at enough of a distance, but the woman playing was a good singer anyway so it provided some back ground music. As I mentioned, the food was excellent. The manager and another waitress were taking care of the dining room The waitress was somewhat overwhelmed with 4 tables, but that was the extent of the patronage on a November Thursday night. My wife ordered a salad which never came which was ok, but indicative of the restaurant needing to look for additional wait staff and work on sequencing the meal. I noted other tables having to ask for things that should have already been delivered/routine.

We discovered Vanessie's 20 years ago after reading an article in Southwest Art entitled "50 Things to do in Santa Fe." Esquire says it is one of the 10 best piano bars in the world. We haven't made it to the other 9, so we can't compare, but it is wonderful. Make sure to be there when Doug Montgomery is playing. Eat in the bar and enjoy the music. And don't be surprised when Doug asks someone to sing and he turns out to be a tenor with the Metropolitan. 20 years of great memories and we make sure to return every time we are in Santa Fe (once a month). If I had only one thing to recommend in Santa Fe, it would be to spend a night with Doug Montgomery at Vanessie.

Doug Montgomery was the entertainer in the cocktail lounge and he plays piano beautifully and his personality is very engaging. The food is only just okay, so in the future I will only order drinks. The music is basically show tunes and some well known piano solos and some original amusing songs.
