We stayed at this Hilton property for 4 nights while in Santa Fe. Our first few minutes set the tone for most of the stay. We arrived around 5:00 pm right after a rainstorm had passed through the area. We had hoped for a nice room was a view. When we checked in the young man at the counter, who was not friendly, told us there were only two rooms left (really at 5). When we got to our first floor room with no view, water was dripping around the window in the living room area and landing on the air conditioner unit. I went back to the front desk to see if there was another room we could have. The same uncaring man sent me to another first floor room in a different building. Water was dripping in that unit also, in the bedroom. Went back to the front desk unfortunately the same man was there. He acted like he could care less about the dripping water and didn't seem bothered that we would have to listen to it that night. His only solution was to send housekeeping which took some time to our room and I was handed two towels. While I was at the desk I inquired about switching rooms the next day and at first he said he didn't know if they would have any other rooms (REALLY) then when he saw I wasn't giving up he said someone would be checking out the next day unless they decided to stay another night and we could move to their room if they left. After giving this some thought we decided to stay in the first room, I just didn't trust the front desk to make sure we had a room and we were going to be gone from the hotel all of the next day.
The drip did stop later in the evening, but what bothered me the most was the lack of concern for our problem. Starting off our stay here in this manner put a sour taste in our mouths for Homewood Suites.
The breakfast items were not very warm as others have mentioned, but there is a microwave there so things can be heated up. The breakfast choices were nice on Sat. & Sun., but after that they went down hill! The last two mornings they started running out of several items, such as brown sugar for the oatmeal, tea bags for hot tea & yogurt...think someone needed to go to the store, but once again the person working the breakfast didn't seem to care that they were out of basic items! Very sad for an upscale hotel!!!!
The front desk was a bad experience the first night we were there, and this continued during our stay. Another time we went to get some clean bathroom glasses since house keeping just left the dirty ones. Had to wait for someone to come to the front desk and they didn't have any glasses. One morning I noticed people were waiting at the front desk and the same man that checked us in was not behind the counter...he was at the breakfast area getting something to eat while people waited for someone to help them. He finally made it over to where they were waiting.
On the positive side the room (minus the leak) was very nice. Clean, comfortable bed, soft towels and plenty of room.
We would have only stayed there one night and then found another place in Santa Fe, but it was too late to cancel our reservations and this place was too pricey to pay for it and another place. If we visit Santa Fe again we will not be staying here and we didn't even mind the scenic 12 mile drive into Santa Fe like other reviewers had mentioned.
For a property that promotes itself as upscale the service was well below average and what bothered me the most is no one seemed to care!
