Our stay at the Don Gaspar Inn was fantastic. We stayed in the Territorial suite and loved the heated floors in the bathroom! Both Christine and Ana were welcoming hosts and of course, we have to mention LuLu who charmed us each morning. Breakfasts were beyond expectation and filled us for the day. We hope to return to this Inn as it was one of our favorite places to stay in Santa Fe.

Room Tip: If traveling as a family, the Territorial suite adjoins with the Olive suite and would suit a group...

This B&B consists of a few small homes tied together around a courtyard. We stayed in the Main House (2 bathrooms and 3 bedrooms -- K, Q and a trundle). The property was comfortable and homey, with a full kitchen and a W/D. The breakfast provided each day was pleasantly presented by either Christine or Ana, who made you feel welcome like you were visiting a friend. Both ladies were quick to offer ideas and advice for touring and sightseeing. I would be happy to stay in the B&B if I return to Santa Fe!
Constructive criticism: we enjoyed the breakfast each day, and we walked away full and happy. But the daily offering of just one hot entree meant that you were out of luck if the item was not to your liking (half the time, sausage patties were also available). We enjoyed the hot selection each day (varied and deliciously prepared!), so the lack of choice was not a problem. I don't know whether an alternative would have been offered if the daily selection was unacceptable (for example, because of an allergy) since we never asked the question. The bountiful fresh fruit, out-of-this-world granola, yoghurt(s) and breads were all wonderful. I repeat, I would be happy to stay in the Don Gaspar Inn again if I return to Santa Fe.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper in the Main House, stay away from the bedroom fronting on the porch; the...

Thank you for your recommendation, we were glad to have you visit. To answer your question about the hot breakfast dish, we like to ask guests when they register if they have any food allergies or preferances such as glutten free. We then make sure to provide something to accomodate, either a separate hot dish or we prepare the main hot dish of the day in a way to meet your needs. This has been a fun adventure in finding new recipes to serve our guests. Thanks for the tip about the heating unit, we will look into that.
Thank you for taking the time to give us your review and we do hope to host you again soon.

We had had a mix-up with the two night reservations at another B&B in Santa Fe. We ended up spending the first night at a hotel and the second night at the Don Gaspar Inn. We were so pleased! The hospitality, breakfasts and trip consultation couldn't have been better! We stayed in the Colorado Room and were quite pleased.

We stayed in the main house and it was lovely and full of Southwestern charm. The breakfast food was delicious! Ana and her staff were great hosts. Patrick even made a fire in the living room fireplace for us. It is convenient to the Plaza as well.

Thank you for your review we appreciate your words. We love to have our neighbors from Texas come and visit in Santa Fe. We know the contrast of 7000 feet altitude gives you the treat of cooler temperatures, the fireplace in the Main House is a welcome feature to many who stay there. We do hope you can come visit us again soon.

We just got back from a 4 day getaway to Santa Fe and consider the Don Gaspar Inn quite a find. It's located in a quiet residential neighborhood less than a 10 minute walk to the plaza, shops and restaurants. It's also walking distance to Canyon Road (art gallery row) and the hip newly gentrified Railyard with shops, restaurants, and high end contemporary galleries.

The Don Gaspar is the perfect walking "base" and the room was comfortable, quiet, and felt like a private casita but with a cheerful glass walled community breakfast room overlooking the courtyard garden and fountain--a perfect hybrid of private and communal. The breakfast was buffet style with yogurt, fruit, granola or heartier special egg dishes with a southwest twist and freshly baked breads. The staff was very friendly and helpful, Ana is the "chef" and a fount of information. Ana's cute little chihuahua is also on staff:) Another nice touch are the bottled waters and snacks made available before starting your day.

All in all a great place to stay and start your day when visiting Santa Fe.

Room Tip: The Olive Tree room had a huge luxurious walk-shower.

Bottom Line Up Front: Despite some minor housekeeping glitches, the Don Gaspar Inn has enough pluses to make your stay in Santa Fe memorable.

Just 20 minutes before the front desk closed for the evening, I arrived solo at the Don Gaspar Inn, was checked in and taken to the Fountain casita which I booked for 4 nights. I noticed right away that the DVD player I wanted to use for in-room movies on quiet evenings was non-existant. Later, I saw there were no toiletries in the bathroom and not one single clock in the entire, otherwise-nicely-furnished room with full kitchen! Luckily, I had my own toiletries and my smart phone, and all of these issues were promptly resolved the next day. Must have been a glitch in the usual smooth operations (also found a bag of trash forgotten on my porch one evening) of this highly-recommended inn, that most travelers are sure to love.

Pros: unbelieveably quiet, convenient neighborhood location; top-notch, accommodating staff (Ana, Christine, Patrick); plentiful and tasty breakfasts; comfortable furnishings (great sheets and thirsty towels); CLEAN rooms; off-street parking; pleasant garden surroundings; pre-visit mailing of 'Inside Santa Fe' had me at "hello." Impressive.

Cons: pedestal sinks, though charming, leave little room for vanity supplies; limited DVD library; dim lightbulbs throughout room, made it tough to read; don't forget the need for a clock somewhere in the room; even just one updated magazine travel guide in the room would be appreciated -- the SF Visitors' guide in mine was 5 years old, so many of the restaurants and shops had closed or changed. [Somewhat offset by pre-visit 'Inside SF' mailing. ]

Despite the few negatives, I must say that Ana deserves recognition as an enthusiastic hostess, even after all these years! She is clearly a pro, and handles the needs of her guests with aplomb. And the sheer charm of the place should make repeat guests out of even particular travelers like me! I hope to return.

Room Tip: The Fountain Casita has a 2-person table on its tiny porch. Great if you like sitting outside for l...

What a great guest! You were so kind to flow easily with the housekeeping glitches. The check and recheck is stepped up since your visit, that's for sure. It was a pleasure to help you enjoy your visit to Santa Fe and we are updating all the guest information books in the rooms, it seems no one had mentioned that before and some how we missed it so thank you. We look forward to your next visit.

We just returned from a 4-night stay at the Don Gaspar Inn. Our trip was a last-minute plan so we had to grab what accommodations were available. We were so delighted with the Don Gaspar Inn. It is a short distance and easy walk from the plaza. Our room was clean, cozy, comfortable, and attractive. The courtyard was lovely and peaceful. The breakfast was healthy, varied, delicious and plentiful each morning. We loved visitng with staff members Patrick, Kristine and Anna. They welcomed us warmly and provided great tips on how to spend our time in Santa Fe. (Thanks again Partick for having the fireplace going to warm the room upon our late arrival.) It was a delightful experience and we look forward to returning again.
