“Excellent Older Place, Adjacent to Santa Fe Plaza”
Reviewed 4 December 2013

We have stayed here several times, always staying in room 259. The room has a wood burning Kiva fireplace, a balcony with a view of Santa Fe foothills and the Inn at Loretto, a large sitting area, 52 inch flat screen, and a king-size bed. There is a decent adjacent restaurant, and a very generous complimentary breakfast with excellent green chile scrambled eggs. The parking is free and easy manuever. Only downside we noticed is the furniture and fixtures are aging.

Dear ses-merrimack, Thank you for your recent review. We are pleased to know you enjoy the green chile scrambled eggs! They are one of my favorites as well. Thank you, also, for mentioning that room 259 needs a bit of TLC. I will ensure our staff goes over everything thoroughly so that the room is back up to our usual standards. We hope to welcome you back very soon!

I took my mother to Santa Fe for a long weekend as a 74th birthday present. We had not been to Santa Fe in about 20 years, and needed someplace that was reasonably priced and easily accessible to the Plaza. The Inn of the Governors was a good choice. Although I would not characterize it as a "cozy" or "small" hotel, as I've seen in some other reviews, the hotel lobby was pretty and nicely appointed. Our room, with two queen beds, was reasonably big and definitely clean. The beds were comfortable. The large breakfast was good, hearty food, if somewhat uninspired (scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, potatoes, cereals, pastries, and cut melon). Typical buffet breakfast fare. The restaurant/bar were nice - especially when we arrived late in the evening and just wanted to eat and go to bed. The house margarita was delicious. The hotel was located about two and a half blocks from the Plaza - an easy walk. Parking was not an issue for us, although the hotel appeared to have ample parking, because we took a shuttle directly from and to the Albuquerque airport. If you don't plan to drive while in Santa Fe, that is a good option. I was able to print our boarding passes at a computer/printer in the hotel, which was handy. I would stay here again, and recommend the hotel to others. As a side note, if you go from the east coast, expect some down time in the morning. Almost nothing in Santa Fe opens until 10 a.m., so if your internal clock wakes you up at 5 a.m. Santa Fe time, you'll need to find something to do for a while!

Always love staying here. My family and I have been staying for over 30 years. It is located within a short walk of the Plaza and is priced very reasonably. The included breakfast each morning was outstanding! Highly recommend staying here!

Just a cozy little hotel in the heart of Santa Fe. Walking distance to the Plaza and shopping. Great staff. Has a charming bar with a patio area with heaters and fireplace. Great place to relax after a busy day. Most rooms have a wood burning fireplace and are clean and comfortable.

As soon as we drove into Santa Fe i fell in love with the place. The Inn of the Governors was the perfect place to stay. The check in staff were very helpful and friendly to us as we turned up early. They were helpful in providing us with a map of the town (which is a very short walk) to explore and then let us check in a little early. The room was spacious and comfortable with a very New Mexico feel. We found it a very relaxing place to stay and would highly recommend.

The Inn of the Governors was the perfect base for an impromptu weekend of museum-hopping. Crisp fall weather, the scent of piñon burning fireplaces in select rooms, the tea and sherry hour, great margaritas and informal dining at the El Charro restaurant all came together. Our weekend getaway couldn't have been better!

My wife and I celebrated a birthday milestone by visiting Santa Fe for the first time. The "Inn of the Governors" was recommended by a couple we met this spring in Key West, Florida. Their advice was that the Inn of the Governors was the place to stay--we are very thankful that we listened to their great advice. All the right touches were expertly done throughout our 5-day stay. Thank you.
