This property is a very average property. This property should be updated and the beds should be improved to real Marriott beds. The food is not good at all. The coffee should be improved.

When we travel to Santa Fe each summer to see the Santa Fe Opera and attend the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, we have usually stayed at a hotel on Cerillos Road. This year, we learned of terrible construction which would make our commutes a challenge as they did two years ago when the first construction phase began. Since we had a most enjoyable stay at a Residence Inn in Tucson recently, we chose the Residence in off of St. Michael's which was not only convenient, but much roomier than our previous Cerillos hotel.

The complementary breakfast is boilerplate (same as all hotels who offer the amenity), but the food is presently nicely and is constantly refilled. Depending on the bookings at the hotel, finding a seat at breakfast can be a challenge.

The rooms are much bigger than expected. The bed was comfortable. Depending on your room location, parking can be a challenge.

You never know when your room is going to be made. A call to Housekeeping may be your best bet. There are signs which you are told to post, but in most cases for us (we stayed there twice over a 3 week period) the signs meant little.

We swam once, and were concerned about security, because a large familiy (10 at least) arrived (they clearl were not guests... maybe family members of a staff person) and monopolized the pool and spa. They left an infant out in the sun and rarely showed any attention to the baby who screamed constantly from the heat and need of attention. Finally, they brought over a bottle of water and gave it to the screaming baby.

In sum, I feel that this is a good choice for any number of reasons. The rooms are dark. Our home is full of light..... Bottom line.... there's no place like home.... but this place will fill the job on the road.

Room Tip: Ask for a downstairs room with convenient parking.

I am a platinum member at Marriott. They may not be the best value but they are consistently nice and clean. Until my stay at the Santa Fe Residence Inn, it had been a long time since I have been disappointed in a Marriott property. I found the rooms very dated; linoleum coming up in the bathroom, hard to regulate the water, noisy air conditioning and fan and dust build up on the carpeting and in the corners. The next day we left our room at 9AM and returned at 9:30PM to find the temperature on our room at over 80 degrees. The air conditioning unit froze; which we were made to feel it was our fault because the setting was too low; even though a housekeeping was in our room that day. We were told to run the fan for 2 or 3 hours without the A/C on and that would thaw things out. I told the front desk this was unacceptable and we were issued a new room. The only person to apologize was the very nice maintenance person. So we had to pack up five people and move to another room at 10:00 PM. Santa Fe was lovely, but find some other place to stay.

This is one of the most dated, sad hotel rooms I've stayed in, and it was definitely much more expensive than it should have been. The property is somewhat removed from good restaurants, galleries, etc in Santa Fe- you'll want to drive everywhere. The hot tub near our room was empty, and there were work crews there all three days (Fri, Sat, Sun), loudly fixing up the buildings.

Our room itself was definitely not that big - the smallest Residence Inn room I've had. The kitchen was pathetic - ancient microwave, beat up refrigerator, dinged up counters. The bathroom was about the same - gross wallpaper, peeling off trim. And the carpet - ugly and old throughout. Old boxy, big TV. The bed was decently comfortable, and the air conditioning was the best part.

I definitely would not stay here again, and wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

Well I'm a Marriott Platinum member and try to use them when I travel. This is the most wanting of the Residence Inns I've ever stayed at.

We spent a week here on vacation in one of their 1050 ft2 penthouse suites. It was spacious...but rundown. 5 service calls for toilets, sink, lights out, etc. Pretty responsive maintenance, but 5 calls?!? The front desk staff is lackadaisical and the maids take up all the choice parking spots in front of our rooms!

Old TVs (20 in tubes), bird nests outside the room (tons of droppings every day), and a number of other death by 1000 cuts.

But it's nicely located away from the plaza, quiet, and we can drive 10 minutes in any direction for great restaurants, nightlife, and attractions. The rates are also quite a bit less than the plaza and we get 1050 ft2!

So weight the cost benefit for yourself. In the end it was a big OK, certainly not great, but more annoying than terrible

Room Tip: check for AAA or other good rates on website

This was one of the old style Residence Inns with all ground level units. It also had an outside patio where I could pop out to smoke. The staff was very friendly and accommodating to anything I needed or wanted information about. Their food was great. They had real barbecues where they would cook out on the grill on Wednesdays and their breakfasts were actual food, not powdered eggs and fake sausage. On Sundays they would have a really great breakfast with real biscuits and gravy. Delicious! It is a pity that the other Residence Inns don't follow suit. I stayed there almost three months and never had one complaint. Excellent!
