Everything was great, however, the Television service leaves something to be desired. No in house movies, and just one HBO movie channel with no listings guide.... basically, the same thing you would get from a $50 budget motel.
Other than that, it was fine. If that's of no consequence to you, I would recommend it.

Room Tip: The penthouse suite is ideal for families or larger groups.

Our room at the Mariott Residence Inn Santa Fe was disappointing when compared to the usual high standard of other Marriotts. Positives include - spacious, two-story, suite with two king beds and two separate bathrooms; free parking; nice work-out room; free breakfast; free wi fi; full kitchen; lots of storage; and accommodating desk staff. Negatives that outweighed the positives begin with the run-down condition of the room. The carpets and drapes were scheduled for cleaning the week of our stay, but the walls were badly dinged and damaged, the doors were coated in dirty finger prints, and I personally wiped down all switch plates to remove grime and other "yuck." We had to ask for our room to be vacuumed as soon as we checked-in because of food on the floor. A closet door was broken, and light bulbs were burnt out. No recycling bins in the room or common areas, and all serving dishes at breakfast were plastic.

A big disappointment was the quality of the mattress and bedding, which I thought would be the high quality of other Marriott hotels with their super comfy mattresses and comforters. Finally, in 3 days, we only received house keeping service once. We left each morning before 11:00 after breakfast and a work-out, which seems like a reasonable departure time, yet our room was ony cleaned one time. Would not stay here again.

Room Tip: Reserve a "penthouse suite" if traveling with a friend or family. Not so good if two coup...

My family of 5 stayed here while on summer vacation. We were on the road for 15 days and stayed in a few different places along the way so I became good at drawing comparisons.

The property is well maintained and the location is convenient. I especially like the floorplan/configuration of the rooms -having a full kitchen is nice when you are travelling with children because you can bring along bottled water, milk, yogurt and accommodate leftovers if desired.

We had a room with 2 queen beds and sofa sleeper which accommodate the five of us nicely. closet was a bit dark so a light in there would be useful.

Breakfast included nice selection/variety and good quality. I enjoyed the breakfast burritos and my kids enjoyed the waffles and sausage. Seating was crowded though but staff were attentive to our needs and kept everything well stocked. We will stay here again.

The front desk person was not very welcoming. Maybe she was sick or just hated her job. Not a good start to the stay though. The first strange thing that happened was getting locked out of the room when we closed the little patio door. Beware, it is self locking! My husband had to climb over the wall and thank goodness he had left the room door slightly ajar. The King suite was nicely laid out but did not have a pleasant smell. That is the disadvantage to having a kitchen in the room. Someone must have cooked with garlic or onions before us. Yuk. We had a notice in the room that a contracting cleaning service would be on the property to deep clean carpets and draperies at an unspecified time. I called the front desk to let them know I would rather wait until we checked out, did not want someone knocking on the door at 8:30am! The front desk attendant said she would put in a request that they don't bother us and then informed us that our room had a noise complaint! Not sure how that could be since we had been out of the room for the last three hours! Not to mention we are a quiet older couple anyway. We had heard some folks chatting outside when we got in our room at 7:00pm, but we left shortly after that. We chose this property because it was close to the 2nd Street Brewery. At least that was a good experience. I don't think I would stay here again though because of the front desk person, the accusation of noise and the overall weird vibe I am getting being here.

I would agree with the positive reviews given to this property. Be aware that the "penthouse" arrangement means an upper level that is open to the lower level; this can be an issue if someone if trying to sleep upstairs while someone else is watching TV or cooking or whatever in the downstairs area. Complimentary morning breakfast was good although I always wish for more fruit selections. Staff are helpful. Grounds are very nice with a pool and tennis/basketball court. While you're not in the immediate "downtown" part of Santa Fe, it is just a short drive with options through back streets with little traffic. Also there are numerous restaurants hereby. I would stay here again.

As mentioned by several reviewers, this is an older Residence Inn property. This means that the property is made up of 15-20 "buildings", each having 8 suites. Each building is 2 stories and there is no elevator. If you have an issue with luggage, I recommend having a staff member help with your luggage, or request a first floor suite. The lobby building is where breakfast, a sitting area, fitness center, and the main office is located. I actually prefer this layout, as it's provides a more private atmosphere.

I stayed in a penthouse suite, which had 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The suite was recently renovated, spotlessly clean, and quiet. The suite had 2 king beds, both comfortable, and contained 3 flat screen TV's. The kitchen had all new appliances, although I did not use any of it.

Be aware that parking is only on the outside of the property. If you have a suite in one of the inner buildings, you will have a short walk from your car to the suite.
