“"Peaceful"”
Reviewed 21 July 2013

Soooooo nice, quiet, and peaceful. Our room, on the second floor, was updated, no mold in bathroom, bedding was luxurious. This was a fun road trip for hubby and me to visit Santa Fe especially Canyon Road, the museums, and downtown Plaza. For the price, right on one of the main drags into downtown, it's worth staying here. Of course, the proverbial continental breakfast is par on course. We checked Trip Advisor and saw where Comfort Suites was rated in the middle of the pack and after checking numerous reviews, this was the best bang for our buck with an AARP discount. You really can't go wrong staying here. Large room with sofa and coffee table to put your "stuff" on instead of flopping it down on top of a dresser or on the bed. Hubby enjoyed the large flat-panel tv which he is accustomed to.

Room Tip: Check out how Trip Advisor rates hotels/motels in areas.

Check-in was great, until my mom and I got to our first room. We opened the door and it felt like we were in a walk-in refrigerator! The air was absolutely blasting. So I went over to the heater/AC (antiquated, by the way, no thermostat to set and let it adjust by itself) and turned it from cool to heat. Once I turn around, I smell something burning, and saw smoke, followed shortly by hearing the loud beeping of the fire alarm. I quickly shut the heat off, walked out of the room, and we reported it to the front. The way the MANAGER approached the situation was UNACCEPTABLE. He told us that if we opened the window, the smoke should clear out, everything should be fine, and was only slightly shocked by the fire alarm going off. By request of both of us, he (begrudgingly) switched our room to a second-floor, quieter location. There was no "I'm sorry for the inconvenience."

The housekeeping service could have been better as well. Despite the avid attempts for ChoiceHotels to conserve water with the "towel on the rack" program, all of our towels that we HAD left on the rack were still replaced. None of the toiletries/amenities were restocked, and there was no bath mat afterwards. They did not pay attention to details. The bed was made, and the towels were replaced (whether or not we wanted them to be). That was it.

I respect that Comfort Suites is a family hotel. But the pool should be a place to relax. Despite my mom's and my hardest attempts to relax in the (very nice salt-water) pool, it's difficult to relax when there are boys practicing cannon-balls and throwing each other across the pool and SHOUTING in an indoor facility. Another women who appeared to have the same attempts as we did was having no success in her small laps across the pool, and the father of the boys made no attempt to keep them in line. If you want to have a relaxing time at the pool, it may just be worth it to try and get in after business hours.

In short, this is a great stay for someone on a budget and looking for a comfortable night's sleep, but don't go looking for excellent service or a relaxing getaway.

Room Tip: Try to request a second or third floor room. Also ask them to not turn on the air conditioning full...

Dear Nicole J,

If no one apologized to you, let me be the first to offer my sincerest apologies. Unfortunately, there was something off with the AC system in your first room, and we have since then fixed the issue.

It is unfortunate that a guest of ours had discovered the issue before we did, and again, my sincerest apologies on behalf of our staff.I hope the transition to your 2nd room went smoothly enough for both you and your mother.

I assure you we don't always have rambunctious boys cannonballing the pool. If we are ever notified of such an issue during your stay, we will ask the parents to be more considerate of the other guests.

We hope you do give us another try in the future, as we do take constructive criticism to heart and are always looking to improve.

Was pleased with the price (they offered a nice AARP discount), but sometimes you get what you pay for :-)
Made a reservation in advance, and on checking in was given a 1st floor room, right off the lobby, next to the ice machine...opened the door, and the A/C was blasting- the room temp was probably 60? We turned off A/C, switched it to heat. The room started filling with horrible smell and smoke alarm went off. Went to front desk, and manager suggested we just open the window for a bit. When we requested, the manager (begrudgingly) moved us to a 2nd floor room- no apology at all.
Overall, room was clean. Sofa bed had minimum linens, no extra pillows. The temperature in the room was difficult to control- (King Suite); front of room stayed warm, back stayed cold.
Pool and hot tub area were "nice", pool was salt water. Hotel breakfast was good, but breakfast area was a mad house!

Room Tip: Make sure to ask for a non main floor room. Ask in advance for extra linens.

We originally booked 4 nights downtown and changed to the Comfort Suites Santa Fe after only one night.

This is a lovely hotel at a good price. The rooms are large with a sofa, fridge, microwave, a full breakfast and parking is included. There are lots of restaurants and shops around here with easy access to both the I-25 and I-84

It's a short drive into town when you want to visit for the day. pay for the parking in town when you go and save by staying here. You can save at least $50/night for a much nicer room, plus an indoor pool and hot tub.

Highly recommend it.

Dear Debra13,

We are very happy to hear that you were able to make the most of our great location and amenities. We are in a great location for a peaceful night's rest or mid-day siesta, yet just a short drive away from all the action. And I imagine that extra $50/night made shopping even more fun.

Thanks for the wonderful review, and we hope to see you again!

I wanted to get out of Albuquerque for the fourth of July, so I booked this hotel in SF. About halfway between I-25 and the downtown plaza on Cerrillos Road. Not the best location but quiet and comfortable. Parking, wifi, fridge and microwave included in price. The room was great, slightly frayed and dinged in spots and I don't think the indoor pool spa combo was all that great but the value is there if you are spending a couple of nights in Santa Fe on your tour of the land of enchantment Breakfast was not impressive, the usual. Small dining room if the property happens to be full. Staff was great, very helpful no,problems whatsoever checkin or out

Now this was a normal shaped hotel room. We had a clogged tub. They brought us drano and we were able to take care of the problem. We had a flat screen tv. The free breakfast was very good and was even made available to me prior to 6:30a.m. when they saw I was in the lobby getting my plane ticket from their guest computer. I would definitely stay here again. Good location, very close to the Plaza.

Nice and clean. Pleasant staff and reasonably priced. For a small property, the breakfast was excellent. Besides the usual carb food there were eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy, waffles etc. and all tasty too. Great location for pretty much everything. Would stay again no problem.
