“Terrific weekend at Piney Hill”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 November 2013

We had a fantastic time with Hank and Wiley. From the gorgeous décor to the delicious breakfasts, no detail is overlooked. They made everyone feel right at home. We had a slightly quiet and sleepy group of travelers when it came to breakfast time, but Hank truly went above and beyond by making local travel suggestions and sharing his knowledge about the surrounding area. There were a couple of hikes we hadn't even planned on doing but learned about at them breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed later in the day. We look forward to coming back to Piney Hill.

What a great B&B! Wiley and Hank are phenomenal hosts with terrific knowledge of the entire area. As soon as we got in, Wiley gave us an introduction to the B&B, the area and things to do the likes of which I've never experienced.

For e.g. one of the best tips Wiley gave us was to pack sandwiches from West Main Market and pick up some baked goods from Gathering grounds on the way to Shenandoah. Eating at the park lodge is for noobs!

The grounds are really relaxing and if you are from the city you can get used to the serenity and quiet of the country. Never seen cows and pigs so up close which was a new experience for both the wife and I.

My only suggestion would be to include a few more savory items to the otherwise awesome breakfasts. It was a tad too sweet for my tastes but still light years ahead of any hotel breakfast.

Room Tip: The Emma room was really cozy, loved it.

My partner, Harry, and I were pleasantly surprised to see Piney Hill Bed and Breakfast, a country home with cottages, nestled in a farming area near Luray.. We had planned a fall trip to see the leaves turning in a part of Virginia neither of us had visited before. It was a little early to see the leaves at their peak; nevertheless, the countryside was beautiful and the weather perfect for our stay. What exceeded our expectations was the bed and breakfast itself. We were greeted by Hank, one of the friendly owners, and shown our cottage and given loads of information about the local attractions and restaurants. We appreciated the privacy, the generous accommodations, and all the facilities in the cottage (robes for the chilly morning, a little kitchen and coffee maker, and more). We loved the food: generous and tasty hot breakfast brought to our door, afternoon treats suddenly appearing on our kitchen table, and even candy on our turned down sheets. We met Wiley later on our stay and enjoyed our conversation with him as well. If we ever find ourselves in this area again, we know we will make reservations at Piney Hill B and B.

Room Tip: We stayed in one of the separate cottages and loved it. I think it would be fun to try a space in t...

Pineyhill band b is beautiful . Our room was great it had a nice sitting area, Hank and Wiley are great. Very friendly and warm. They go the extra mile to make you feel at home. The food is outstanding. They are very helpful in helping you make plans for the day. Pineyhill is about 15 minutes from skyline drive. And only a few minutes from down town luray. There are great winery's you can visit. We have stayed 4 times and will be returning next year.

Beautiful property, Awesome Inn Keepers, Great Food.
Very accommodating, helped to arrange activities when our plans changed due to the government shut down. Great recommendations for dinner and scenic drives.
We felt right at home and shall be returning to this one for sure.

Best B&B ever!! Beautiful location with great views. We loved everything about the house. The rooms were nicely decorated and clean, good beds! The hosts Wiley and Hank were very hospitable, Hank makes a delicious breakfast. They're very knowledgable about the area also by their own experiences. There is something to do for everyone's liking: hiking, biking, horseriding, kayaking. Nice restaurants. Luray caverns and Shanandoah NP.
Wiley and Hank went above and beyond in making our stay very comfortable. We allready miss the breakfast. There is also have a little shop with reasonably prices at the bed and breakfast.
This stay is really worth your money.

We enjoyed everything about our experience at Piney Hill beginning with the beautiful drive from Luray. We wanted to experience the countryside, and that's exactly what we did. We received a warm welcome from Hank when we arrived, and he immediately began giving us suggestions about things we might like to do. The house was beautifully decorated for fall, and our room had everything we needed. Breakfast the next morning (both mornings, actually) was absolutely delicious! And the culinary treat waiting in our room when we returned from our day of sightseeing was a delicious surprise. Hank and Wiley have a gift for attending to detail. Staying in their home was a delightful experience!
