That's exactly how we would characterize the Piney Hill B&B, a little piece of heaven tucked away in the hills near Luray, Virginia. My wife and I both said, we cannot remember a time in our lives and any of our travels when we were so pleased with a place that we have stayed. This is our idea of getting away from it all and to have some peace and quiet and serenity for a couple of days. There are not enough words in my vocabulary to tell everything about this place. You will just have to see for yourself. Believe me, it's everything that any advertisement you see for it says it is. From the time we pulled up in the driveway until the moment we left, we were just so overwhelmed with this place. We were met by Hank and Wiley, the proprietors of Piney Hill. These two guys make it just what it is, a wonderful place to stay. Your breakfast will look like it just came from the pages of Southern Living. We stayed in the Rosebud Cottage. From the back porch, there is a panoramic view of Massanutten Mountain. Just absolutely gorgeous. There's a screened in porch on the front where my wife and I sat in the evening enjoying our wine. A wonderful and enjoyable place to stay for a nice getaway. I noticed that there is one review that said it was terrible. All I can say is that I think they must have stayed at one of the local pig farms, because they could not have stayed here and write a terrible review. If there was a 6-star rating here here on Travel Advisor, I wouldn't hesitate to give it.

Room Tip: Any of the rooms would be enjoyable, but if you can stay in one of the two cottages, it would be mos...

Piney Hill B&B was the perfect choice for celebrating our 30th anniversary. Hank and Wiley keep their farmhouse in beautiful condition. The country decor is homey and inviting and always spotlessly clean. Breakfast is amazing. The variety of dishes each morning will please even the pickiest eater like me. Their attention to detail will make your stay extra special. We appreciated the anniversary card upon arrival and dessert waiting for us after a day spent touring the area. They also provide activity and dining recommendations which are refined by their guests' comments. Highly recommended for a memorable trip.

Stayed at the Piney Hill B&B last weekend and loved it. The Rosebud Cottage was one of the most comfortable rooms I have ever stayed in. The hosts were great at suggesting local places to dine and sights to see. The room was very clean. We were leaving early on our last day and couldn't wait for the breakfast. The hosts left food in our room while we at dinner so we would have something in morning before leaving. Very nice B&B. My wife and I will be back. Oh yeah, Hank and Wiley are as great as all the other reviews say.

Room Tip: The cottages have a kitchen which is very handy.

With a zillion 5-star reviews, do you really need to read one more? We are just back from a midweek escape to Piney Hill, and we can attest that all these positive reviews are well-deserved. The setting was gorgeous and the innkeepers were delightful people who give a lot of thought to making your stay memorably relaxing. Those staying during summer 2014 got a special kitten bonus, with Larry, Moe, and Shirley playing constantly on the grounds. (Important note that these cats are not allowed inside, so no problem for the cat-sensitive.) I still can't believe we made it home without a kitten smuggled in my wife's bags.

We are eager to go back in other seasons, but we did learn a few things from this trip: Enjoy Shenandoah National Park -- it is nearby and a great place to visit, and you will run out of things to do in Luray in a hurry. There are a number of good (read, better) restaurants and lots of vineyards on the east side of the mountains, and when we go back we will know to plan more day trips over that way.

Our primary goal on this trip was to relax, so we spent a good amount of time at our Piney Hill cottage and wandered up to the house from time to time to pick up wifi in order to download newspapers and crosswords or post pictures of kittens on Facebook. It was the perfect getaway.

Hank and Wiley thought of every detail to make sure our stay was perfect. Bring your appetites because breakfast is big! You will not be disappointed staying at this B&B. We already made reservations to bring friends with us in the fall.

What a great birthday celebration! The cottage was immaculately clean, really nicely decorated, cozy and convenient to everything we wanted to do while we were in the Shenandoah Valley - canoeing, hiking, seeing the caverns, eating, drinking, and just relaxing. The innkeepers were super sweet and we enjoyed playing with and loving on the newly born kittens. Looking forward to visiting again soon!

Room Tip: The cottages were great because you get your own privacy, bathroom, deck, etc. but are close enough...

We had a great stay at Piney Hill; it's so peaceful and serene, with wonderful views of the mountains and surrounding fields and farms. And the drive up into Shenandoah NP for hiking and exploring was easy, with great suggestions and trails mapped out for us by the hosts. Breakfasts were outstanding and the whole atmosphere was just cordial, relaxed and totally enjoyable. Luray's not exactly a dining out capital, but it's a great spot to unwind and smell the roses.
