“Summer Stroll Uphill”

A great trail for seeing a wonderful view at the end and feeling the forest along the way. Not too ambitious but long enough to feel it a good hike.

“Amazing view!”
Reviewed 13 August 2014

Nice pleasant hike to an amazing summit. Easy for anyone, any age as long as you can walk. Our teens loved the view & also enjoyed the points of interest along the way. Pay the dollar for the trail guide booklet. It adds history & nature to the hike.

“Easy hike to amazing view”
Reviewed 9 August 2014

The hike is easy. We saw everyone from little kids to retired folks hiking this trail. I think it's like a 1.6 mile roundtrip. And it takes you to the best view I saw during my entire trip on Skyline Drive. This hike is totally worth it!

“A Hike with a Grand View!”
Reviewed 9 August 2014

Visited Luray Caverns earlier in the day and had enough daylight to head over to Stony Man Mountain for a hike. Our hiking guide indicated this would be a good hike for the young and young-at-heart. We had a blast hiking up the mountain and met a gentleman who was hiking the length of the Appalachian Trail. The most difficult part of the hike was trying to read the trail marker post, the stamped metal bands are not very large. The view at the summit definitely made the hike uphill worth the sweat. Don't forget your camera the views are amazing! Another recommendation, families with young children, please carefully supervise your children, the summit rocks have a steep drop off.

First family hike! Was just perfect. Ages 11,14,15. Had a great time. The views were great. Took us 2 hours from parking lot & back. Met some really nice people along the trail.
