“Excellent b&b, very good value, near the Skyline Drive”
Reviewed 4 November 2010

B&B was well situated on the top of a hill with a nice long view over the Shenandoah Valley. Hosts were interesting and made everything easy. Good breakfast. Interesting house with a lot of little rooms to sit in. Good bed.

Only complaint is that the doors to the rooms should be oiled - going to the bathroom in the middle of the night the door squeaked so much that I think I woke up everyone in the house. Creaking floors too, but hey that's part of the charm. Would definitely recommend this B&B to anyone.

Coming from DC, the location of the B&B was not too far, and yet it seemed like we were states away. We enjoyed the crisp clean air and seeing stars at night! There are two houses for the Mayneview, and we stayed in the Greentree a block or 2 down the road from the main house. The view from the main house was much nicer, but it was stressed that we had access to both houses/decks etc. Paul was very helpful in making a dinner recommendations when we first arrived. Although there were 2 other couples, we never saw them during our one night stay, only at breakfast the next morning. The house was very quiet. The house was not very secluded (close neighbors/in a neighborhood/directly facing the street), which I was hesitant about at first. However, everything was very quiet and it did end up feeling more private than it was.
At night, we took advantage of the outdoor hottub, towels were provided and we took down the giant comfy oversized robes provided to us in our room to keep us warm. - they were awesome!
The room -(we stayed in the Maple Room) was very comfortable. It had a mounted flat screen TV and DVD player, which was great - we brought dvds (there were also some provided in the main room downstairs), and curled up by the "fire" (an electronic fireplace, strictly for ambiance) and watched a movie.
In the morning - breakfast was great! Sally made a delicious coffee cake, and Anne, the woman who handles breakfast provided us fruit and amazing fluffy pancakes topped with strawberries and blueberries. Also - sausage and hot coffee. Very impressed! Anne was very nice and accommodating.
Upon checkout Paul provided us with a winery map and made some recommendations.
For the price and everything the B&B entailed - I would definately recommend it!!

We stayed at the MayneView 2 nights this week in the Merlin room. The whole B&B is absolutely adorable, with quaint Victorian charm. The room was spotless, the bed VERY comfortable, breakfast delicious, and the owners very kind and accommodating. I loved every bit of our stay. Although it was a little too hot this week to use the hot tub, the views of town from the porch and the hot tub deck were spectacular. Paul was very helpful in planning fun activities and offering restaurant ideas. Sally's waffles and praline French toast were to die for. I couldn't have asked for more comfortable or relaxing accommodations. Will definitely recommend to friends and family, and hope to return in the Fall to see the leaves change!
Thank you Sally and Paul for such a great vacation!

My husband and I, my brother and sister and their spouses just spent a wonderfully relaxing fun time at the GreenTree Inn (Mayneview B&B). The house was extremely cozy and charming and we had total privacy. Although the inn keepers made themselves available for whatever services we needed, the only time we actually saw them was when Ann and Paul came to prepare and serve breakfast. The breakfast was as good if not better than a 5 star hotel. We enjoyed great conversation with Ann and Paul in the mornings, and both were extremely helpful with discounts and information on all the local attractions, as well as the history of the town and it's surroundings. The inn was clean and comfortable. There was TV in most all the rooms (although we chose not to watch it); numerous board games; books, and a hot tub for relaxation during the time actually spent at the inn. I would highly recommend this inn to anyone visiting the Luray/Shenandoah Valley area. The inn itself is within minutes of Luray Caverns, the fairgrounds, shopping, restaurants, etc.

Paul was very helpful, gave us some tips about where to eat. A big welcome since we are vegetarians. Paul and Sally accommodated my parents anniversary celebration by adding a candle to the breakfast, which by the way was out of this world. They also accommodated our dietary choices in the breakfast. The rooms were great, cozy, drafty and quaint. All in all a charming place to be with the most accommodating hosts.
P.S: They had a house cat which was lovable, purring constantly and adorable. Which was great except that I recently started sneezing around pets :( So just make sure you are okay with cats.

Hosts Sally and Paul Edwards welcomed us and shared their knowledge of Luray, tourist sites and restaurants, with us. The Mayneview's central location to Civil War sites in the Shenandoah Valley was our main enticement and we discovered that Luray Caverns with its superlative auto and valley-life museums are a definite stop. Restful nights and ample breakfasts with early morning walks around the property made for a very enjoyable stay.

I visited the Mayne View with my two dogs. The innkeepers were very accommodating to both my traveling companions and my arrival schedule. The Pen Dragon was a charming room with a comfortable bed. We enjoyed the company of the other guests. And breakfast was bountiful and delicious. I just have nothing negative to say about our visit!

I've stayed at some fabulous Victorian B&Bs in Cape May and always mourned the fact that I couldn't enjoy that experience with my dogs. But the Mayne View is wonderful Victorian home with Victorian furnishings and a Victorian feel that not only allows dogs, but welcomes them. It's rare to find a true B&B that allows you to enjoy the relaxed and social vibe that you go to a B&B for, plus allows you to enjoy it with your four-legged babies. We'll be visiting the Mayne View again!

Extra special thanks to Molly the cat who gave up the free reign of her home to allow my dogs to sniff and investigate and enjoy their stay.
