This is our second visit to the Holiday Mountain Log Cabin in Luray, VA. My wife and I were there over Spring Break with our three kids. Overall, the cabin is very nice, well equipped, clean and extremely spacious for our family. Our kids enjoyed the hot tub and we used the grill for dinners. There is also a fire pit out front; however, given the rain we were not able to use it during this trip. Given its location in the mountains, we had limited cell phone access which turned out to be great thing and we were able to enjoy our time together as a family.

From a location perspective, the cabin is very close to both the town of Luray and Shenandoah National Park. We really enjoyed the close proximity and spent a lot of time in town enjoying the running trail, hiking along the trails, and lunch at our favorite local restaurant, the Gathering Grounds.

Overall, an enjoyable stay and we look forward to returning soon.

If you stay at "Autumn View" cabin, expect great views and decent privacy. However, so many negatives are likely to tarnish your overall experience. Road leading in to cabin area is very steep and apparently badly damaged from winter weather. Without a [high clearance] 4WD vehicle you run the risk of damaging your car, and unfortunately someone in our party did just that and had to be towed back to DC. The cabin is not clean and not stocked sufficiently. Two rolls of toilet paper? The house rule of current renter cleans up after themselves does not work. Basically, nothing gets cleaned very well…everything in kitchen was either broken or filthy. Towels smelled awful and so much in disrepair or nonfunctioning altogether…tv remote (didn't work), hot tub (most buttons didn't work and it had LOTS of hair…yuck), fan upstairs (broken), and so on. I have stayed at many mountain cabins and this was my least favorite in terms of amenities. Just wish owner put a little more effort in to cleaning and upkeep, it would make a world of difference.

This was our third stay in the Crimson Star cabin. We continue to return because the cabin feels like home; the view is spectacular; the hot tub is perfect and David is always reachable should we need anything. Our girls (ages 10 and 13) love the upstairs loft area. The cabin is always clean upon our arrival....and this is coming from a neat-freak! We will continue to visit Crimson Star as it is just a two-hour drive from Richmond, VA and is a wonderful get away! Thank you, David, for maintaining such a wonderful home-away-from-home!

Room Tip: The cabin is very quiet at night so you may want to bring a table fan to turn on for white noise if you like that kind of thing :)

Our mini Vacation at Starlit View Cabin was fabulous. The cabin was very clean – Hot tub was great. Yes, you are in the mountains, so we did encounter “stink bugs”. We knew that ahead of time and could deal with them. It is a great cabin to rent to get away from our busy work schedules and unplug for a few days. David was wonderful to work with. The TV remotes didn’t work when we arrived and we called him to see if we were doing something wrong. Within an hour he was there with replacement batteries and all was good. He was very accommodating to us. We would definitely recommend renting this cabin for a totally relaxing vacation in the mountains. We will rent it again!
