We visited this restaurant twice on a recent vacation, once alone and once with another couple. We had been here with our children about 8 years ago and remembered it having been a nice surprise. The Inn lobby and restaurant are beautiful and inviting. Our first visit this vacation was wonderful - the food and the service were great. However our second visit with another couple (both at lunch time) the service was terrible. I ordered the exact same wrap I had ordered earlier in the week without onions - on the first visit this was not a problem. On the second visit, the waitress said " but they cook them together". When I said it wasn't a problem three days earlier, her response was "I'm just telling you what I've been told, but I guess they can pick them out." Another member of our party ordered the homemade chips and dip as an appetizer, they were almost gone before she said "should I put in your lunch order now" which required us to wait further. When it came time to bring the bill, which she had offered to do as two checks, both parties handed her credit cards with their checks. However she reversed the bills and charged the wrong amount to each party. We did not mention it to her since we knew we would be there even longer, but just corrected it via our tips. If the service was as consistent as the food, I would rate the Circa '31 at the Mimslyn Inn higher.

You know the Mimsyln Inn is special even before you get there. It sits majestically atop a hill, its classic columns over the portico announcing you are now in the South. In fact, if you didn't have your GPS, IPhone and other modern conveniences with you, you might think you were back in the 1920s.

The inside of the hotel continues the experience. We were there for Sunday Country Brunch. Entering through the front door to the hotel, the sound of a piano playing greeted us. Tuxedoed waiters seated us. The brunch had everything from homemade biscuits and sausage gravy to their famous rendition on Southern fried chicken to a prime rib carving station. All this for just $14.95. Our foreign guests thought it was one of the nicest places they'd been to in the States, and they do get around!

One of the best meals I've ever had was the filet served at our wedding at The Mimslyn Inn/Circa 31. It was so delicious we had to repeat it for our anniversary last year and already have our reservations made for this year!

This was an upscale fine dining experience. The tasting menu had nice variety and the food was very good. We were not rushed and the portions were adequate and not overwhelming. We chose to do the wine pairing with the meal, the wines were OK not outstanding.
