Alaska Ocean View Bed & Breakfast Inn
Ranked #10 of 19 Sitka B&B and Inns
Reviewed 18 July 2013

From the; service, friendly owners, extravagant (Alaskan, Organic, Healthy, Hot) breakfasts to the quaint-ness and clean rooms, we would say this B&B is a must to add to your Sitka trip. Huge three story Alaskan home, all wood walls, gorgeous native artifacts, fireplace, balconies, fresh cookies and apples each day... Extremely comfy beds and Carole, the innkeeper is a library of information and thoughtfulness!! Prices as well are comparable to everywhere else in Sitka, the quality does not compare- This B&B is highly recommended.

Room Tip: Suit Room is Large and views the Ocean! Takes about 15 minutes to walk to town.

I stayed at the Alaska Ocean View B&B for one night before a small-ship cruise. Carole, the innkeeper, was very friendly and helpful. The room that a friend and I shared had a private bath down the hall. It was very comfortable, clean, and pleasant. Although the B&B was a rather long walk from the center of town, taxi fares were reasonable ($7 one way) and my trips to the B&B from the airport and to downtown before the cruise were taken care of by my tour company. They also handled the delivery of my luggage. There was no charge for either service. My gluten-free breakfast was excellent and ample.

We stayed 2 nights in the Dogwood room in this B&B at the beginning of July 2013. It was very comfortable: large room and bathroom, wonderful hot breakfast, everything you would hope for. Hosts are very friendly and helpful. There is a shuttle bus from the ferry terminal which drops you off & picks you up at the door for $10 return. It is a 15 to 20 minute walk to downtown, about $8 by taxi when it was raining! There was a free shuttle pick up to the Golf Club where we had a good meal. Carol, the host of the B&B suggested it and telephoned for the shuttle to pick us up.

As in previous reviews we were in the ground floor room which has no view, but it does have a delightful terrace outside the windows with tables and chairs overlooking the garden which was very nice. As we had done all our travelling on the ferries we had seen plenty of Ocean.
The room was almost sumpteous was plenty of every thing you could possibly need.
It's a bit of a walk into town but not excessive and mostly at sea level.
Carole is a extremely good hostess very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble we enjoyed our stay very much and will no doubt be back at sometime.
Thank you Carole and Bill for making our last night in Alaska so comfortable.

We stayed 2 nights here and were very comfortable. There were fresh chocolate chip cookies every afternoon. The sideboard in the dining room was filled with bags of snacks all day and night. There wasn't much of a view from the ground floor room but it was spacious. The electric fireplace took the chill off the room at night and early in the morning. Great night sleep with big fluffy pillows and warm cozy blankets. Quiet also. Good Internet service as well. Breakfast had lots of choices and if you walked away hungry, there was something wrong. Our friends stayed in the upstairs room which was just beautiful and had great views. We were very happy with our stay. They thought of everything here to make you feel at home and comfortable. Even the local kid hired as the gardener was friendly and informative.

Room Tip: Stay in the Dogwood room for the view.

We stayed here for 3 nights from 12 Sept to 15 Sept 2012. This was our last stay in Southeast Alaska after we started our trip on 1 Sept. We found that this B&B is much further from downtown than we thought. The nearest restaurant for dinner was about half-mile away. Not looking forward to the long walk back after dinner as well as we were pretty beat by then, we ended up ordering dinner delivery for our 3 nights we were in Sitka. The owners, Carole and Bill were accommodative and do not mind us having our delivered dinners in the kitchen and our room. Breakfast was good but portion was slightly smaller when compared with other B&Bs that we have stayed at. Also limited orange juice.

This B & B - owned & operated by Carole & Bill Denkinger is 'the cats meow' !

They are the perfect host n' hostess ... it is apparent they have thot of everything that travelers might need / desire - and they are both very upbeat & interesting people.

The room we stayed in (The Sitka Rose) was nicely decorated - comfy & 'warm' - with a HUGE kingsize bed that you melt into.

This is in a quiet central location - we rented a car (Avis gives a discount if you stay here) - and/but - you can walk into town.

The FULL breakfasts are 'gourmet' quality - due to the excellence of Chef Wilhelm ! = fresh fruit/s - abelskivers - German pancakes - waffles - muffins - granolas - muesli - yogurts - juice ... the works ! Annnd good 'stout' java !

And... I should mention - the collection of Native American art & crafts is like a mini-museum = awesome !

This was a perfect place to continue & have the finale to our 50th anniversary trip to Alaska !
