“I Learned to Skate There”
Review of Blunt Park

Blunt Park
Ranked #17 of 44 things to do in Springfield
Attraction details
Reviewed 29 August 2013

Recently, I drove by the skating pond (not the arena) where I learned to skate as a child. The pond was overgrown with weeds and looked forlorn. Blunt Park used to be an open field that seemed to stretch for a mile (as a kid would see it). Now there is a school that takes up most of the openness of the park. If I were a visitor, I wouldn't stop on Roosevelt Avenue. Just keep going.

just okay. have spent some time in the park to read. noisy near road. Occasionally park in the woods deeper when working on the ambulance which is slightly more peaceful. The park is used for baseball games and other sporting events

It doesn't have much to do in it, there are basketball courts and open fields that double as soccer/ football fields, so it is stirring with families at certain times.

In summer, it does attract a lot of teens, but I've never had any problems with any of them.

It has a picnic area way down back, but I've never been that far into the park.

There is a small gravel track that is actually the PERFECT spot for those that want privacy for their running or walking session. You don't have to use the main entrance, it has it's own designated entrance and parking lot, not far from the main entrance of the park.

Not a bad place at all for a mostly quiet park experience most of the time.

Blunt park.... the name says it all. I wont even begin to describe the horrors that go on here (day or night). A quick google news search will tell you all there is to know

It's really not a bad area. It's known for a few things here and there but in reality it's not bad. That park is a great park but only for a few things. If you want to play baseball, softball, football, soccer, or even basketball then that's a good park to go to. I live 2 minutes away and nothing bad has ever happened. So once again to the 1st person who commented don't make any judgement calls unless you your self has actually lived there for more than 18 years. Thank you :)
