“A Jewel from When They Knew the Value of a City Park!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2014

Frederick Law Olmsted, of Central Park fame, designed this historic park in the woods of Springfield Massachusetts, overlooking the Connecticut River. It is well-maintained and truly lovely to see families of all backgrounds walking onto the grounds for an afternoon of fun and cooler havens. Forest Park has it all: tennis courts (including several clay), splash sprinklers, in-ground pool, ice rink, grandstand baseball field, volleyball courts, shuffle board, bocci greens, several playgrounds, a zoo, duck ponds, creek, bike trails, hiking, historic houses, numerous picnic grounds, large green muti-use fields, snack bar, gazebos, picturesque wedding sites, a three-season farmers's market and the sweetest pine trees you would ever want to sit under! What a spot!

“Quiet, restful and interesting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2014

There's a little something for everyone. A great place to walk through or bicycle. A petting zoo for the children. Many gardens blooming throughout the warmer seasons. A great place to recreate, Baseball fields, Tennis and even Bocci.

“Awesome during the Christmas Season”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 May 2014

I grew up in the area but now live on the other side of earth. The park might perhaps be one of those gems that was right under my nose but because I was previously a local that grew up here I didn’t see it or appreciate it. I couldn’t say one way or another. However, during the Christmas season this place is awesome. I was here in December 2013 and it was my first time returning home in a few years. This was one of the many highlights of my trip.

The bright night’s exhibit is just awesome. The park is all lit up and you drive through their character displays many of which are animated via lights, and Christmas music is playing on the radio on the channel you are asked to tune to. There is also the option to go through it via hey ride, or a horse driven carriage at additional cost. There’s food concessions and a Santa Land too.

Here it is May and I’m already looking at the bright nights website weekly hoping the calendar will open. It is a long way to be in the US so when there I do some traveling too. But I want to make sure I’m in Western MA when Forrest Park has the Dinner with Dickens at the Barney Carriage House, or at the very least their supper with Santa which happen on property on certain nights which can be done along with Bright Nights.

“One of the most beautiful parks around.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 April 2014 via mobile

Best place to jog or take a walk in Springfield. Grounds are well maintained. There are plenty of wooded trails for those who prefers a bit of rugged terrain.

“A piece of heaven in Springfield. The zoo needs to go. It's not right to the animals.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 February 2014

Clean. Serene. Remarkable. History. A great park. I only hope one day the zoo will not have live animals like they have now. It's cruel no matter how you look at it. Educational for the children you say? You take a look at the animals they have their, the whole zoo is no bigger than a large back yard. An adult can walk the outside perimeter in five minutes. 150 animals. I know their well looked after but what did they do to end up in prison for life. They had a lion at one point. The animal abuse laws are a joke.
