“Phenomenal Junior Ranger Program”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 July 2014

The staff are wonderful! They helped my son have FUN completing their newly rewritten Junior Ranger Program.

The booklet and activities are very well done. My son has completed about 30 Junior Ranger programs, and the quality of the booklet for this one is #1. The activities are VERY age-appropriate. Even the descriptions and quotes are carefully chosen to be grade-appropriate so that my son could read it from beginning to end! There are three levels denoted by the Ranger hat(5-7), bison (8-10), and NPS arrowhead (11 and above). Well done! (BTW, STRI is a participant in the CW Historian patch program too!)

“Interested & knowledgeable staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 June 2014

As always, we came away from this National Battlefield site impressed by the staff. Knowledgeable, interested, passionate about telling the story. I was interested in learning more about the involvement of 3 ancestors who fought in the Battle of Stones River. While watching the video, a NPS staff member researched the pertinent regiments and copied the information for me to take home. They also directed us to the areas of the battlefield where the ancestors were. This battlefield is an "oasis" in the middle of interstate highways, shopping malls and motels. Grateful that the land was saved.

“Quiet reflection and history”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 June 2014

There is nothing "likable" about visiting where so many lost their lives, bodies ruined... but a feel of history and the sacrifices can still be tangibly felt... without this place, among sadly many others, our Nation was re-forged and its course set for the centuries to come.

It is sad that not all the battlefield could be reclaimed and preserved, but only portions - yet those portions spoke volumes of the human tragedies and desires that enfolded there

“walk in history's story”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2014

Enjoyed the N.P. services, video, museum displays and as always, the rangers. I walked into this area with a vague idea of the story and learned much from the time spent here. We were surprised to find the earthen fort was so far from the battlefield, but beautifully preserved in the park setting. Hearing the trains rumble by brought a sound dimension to the tour that was interesting.

“Love History Take the Time To Teach Your Children”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 June 2014

Loved our trip to this battlefield. It is a smaller battlefield but don't let that stop you! Very interesting and children should learn what our men and women went through during the early years of our country! The staff was very friendly and VERY knowledgeable. Really enjoyed talking to them. Take time to go inside and learn about what happened during this battle before driving or walking around! We bought a cd in the gift shop $6-$7 well worth it. You can play it as you are driving front point A, B etc and it explains everything that happened at each site!!
