Owner description: One of the great regional museums of our world, surrounded by tremendous geological, biological, and cultural resources in one of Earth's most spectacular landscapes. With a long and illustrious history, MNA evokes the very spirit of the Colorado Plateau and serves as a gateway to understanding this unique region. Whatever your time frame, this museum will enhance your experience of the richly diverse cultures, landscapes, and ecology of the Plateau. Nine permanent and changing exhibit galleries present Native cultures, tribal lifeways, natural sciences, and fine arts. Ventures and custom tours explore the Four Corners Region of the American Southwest. Award-winning Museum Shop & Bookstore onsite. Self-guided Rio de Flag Nature Trail.

I returned this museum about 15 years after the first visit. The building is gorgeous and the grounds are lovely. It is a decent little museum, but I didn't enjoy it as much this visit. Perhaps it was the screaming one year old. Here is a thought - take your screaming child out of a museum until he or she stops crying. This Mother chose to remain in one room for about 15 minutes and ruin everyone's experience.
More modern art than I remembered- not my favorite. I did enjoy the jewelry displays and the classic Native American art and relics.

My wife and I enjoyed this fine museum during a rainy day in Flagstaff. We haven't been here in 35 years and they have done a lot of improvements. The artwork is magnificent.

Outstanding exhibits and helpful staff. History, geology, fine arts - all in a beautiful setting. And with an excellent jewelry selection in their gift shop.

The Museum of Northern Arizona has several Heritage Program Festivals each year. This year we were lucky enough to attend the 65th Navajo Festival.

This was our second Navajo Festival visit . This is a great place to see the artist's work and to talk to them. The cultural part of the festival was very interesting. We watched the dancers and were impressed with them and their narrator. After the dancing they made themselves available for photo opportunities and questions from the curious. They were great with kids. The volunteers were friendly, low key and helpful. The parking was well organized across the highway with shuttle buses. The food carts offered variety and quality and good sized portions. Our time was limited but this would be a great way to spend a whole day!

We took a behind the scenes tour of the Paleontology department across the street from the museum. It was a fascinating look at the history of life in the area. Lots of old and BIG bones to see and then learn about those creatures who lived millions of years ago. They offer these tours periodically by reservation only and they cost $10. We want to come back to see the actual museum exhibitions next trip!
