I arrived at SnowBowl after finding it easily despite having never spent any time in Flagstaff. I took notice that nearly every staff member I interacted with was exceptionally friendly and happy. The parking was organized and free. There was a greeter who directed me to the lodge for rentals and tickets. I arrived about 9am and signed up for lesson/rental/lift ticket for 3. They should station a staff member in the waiting area for rentals to answer questions and instruct people to fill out the form. Although it was easy enough to figure out. The line took about 45 minutes to get through at that time of the morning, but appeared longer and longer throughout the morning until about 12 when it finally cleared out. The cashier was friendly but she could have given is some tips on how to save $ rather than upselling. The cost for everything was $275 (1 adult, 1 teen, 1 kid) including 3 helmets. Ouch. That was expensive.
The equipment was good- no problems. There was another greeter at the foot of the ski hill/instruction area who was directing people. I appreciated his directions but he didn't seem actually interested in helping anyone. He perhaps shouldn't be a greeter...
Nonetheless we were on our way! We had a really fun time. Everyone there was having a really fun time! Lift attendants were friendly and helpful. Had lunch at the lower lodge for $20 for 3 and sat outside where a musician/singer provided some nice entertainment. (All the food was pizza, hot dogs, burgers, type food)
The entertainers were good and gave the place a nice vibe.
Inside was a place to warm up and served alcohol as well. I had a plain hot chocolate for $2.40.
Several people brought food and drink from home- I think I saw a sign "please no coolers" or something to that effect. Good to know you can bring food/drink in. There are lockers for $0.75 or $1.00 around the equipment rental area. Bring lots of quarters. The locker room allows for indoor changing area and a restroom which was kept very clean all day. Locker room attendants were on the spot with helping get change, fix the lock on the locker. Nice. The ski shop has gloves, ski pants, neck warmers, etc. that you forgot.
The lodge also provided free water to everyone which was really nice.
Overall this is a well run place with friendly people. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it.
