This was a nice, solid, 2.5-star hotel. I was extremely impressed by the attentiveness and helpfulness of the desk clerk. I never would have guessed he was new to the location. He'd obviously had done his homework. Very impressive! He showed a genuine interest in the guests I saw him assist and offered to help with directions to town or things to see in Flagstaff. I am embarrassed to admit that I didn't get his name. I've worked many years as a mystery shopper for the service industry (including hotels) and his exceptional customer service would have earned top marks had this been one of my assignments.

The room was clean and comfortable. I didn't notice any issues. The warm breakfast was much appreciated. The hotel is close to stores and in a pretty area with many pine trees. The only negatives were a little of noise from some rowdy guests in the parking lot and stomping on the stairs and balcony (not the fault of the hotel) and fitness center equipment that was in disrepair. This wouldn't prevent me from returning to the hotel or recommending it to others.

Room Tip: The hotel is an older, "motel" style with rooms opening directly to outside. Second floor...

We saw the price of this hotel on line, and thought it would be okay for one night. They charged us alittle more than the online quote but told us the breakfast would be worth it. The room was clean but well used. The t.v. remote was so slow and it skipped channels. The in room heater was very noisy all night. There was no hot water the next morning. When we paid our bill, we were told the boiler was broken and our bill was reduced in half. The breakfast was good, waffles, sausages, toast, eggs and pastry. Also, Frank at the front desk was helpful about telling us what to see in Flagstaff. Thanks, Frank, you were right about Sunset Crater Volcano drive, we enjoyed it.

Room Tip: Ask if the boiler is working, if you want a hot shower.

Thank you for taking the time and reviewing our hotel. We sincerely apologize for your negative experience during your stay with us. We are upgrading the hotel rooms and TV channel line ups as well as the breakfast overall. We did replace our hot water tanks and the hot water issue is no longer a problem.
We appreciate you understanding and allowing us to compensate your stay. We also were very happy about your comments on the good front desk service and experience we were able to assist you with.

We truly value your feedback and await your return back into our area. We want to show you our new and exciting changes happening now and continuously to make sure that every guest is 100% satisfied at our GRAND CANYON State.

The staff was very nice...Room was clean...Beds were comfortable...nice continential breakfast...the only problems we had w/our stay were it would have been nice to have a bigger variety of breakfast items and more tables because we did have to wait for a table to sit down...also the room did smell like throwup by the refrigerator...other than that i would recommend this hotel...it was close to NAU and everything else...
