We have been hiking this trail with our granddaughters every year since they were just little shavers. They insist on going back to it every year and they are now 13 and 15. It is an out and back trail and it follows the contour of the mountain so there isn't much elevation change, making it an easy hike for even little kids, especially the first couple of miles. Just go as far as you like, then head back. The trees and meadows are spectacular, especially in early summer when everything is in bloom. When my granddaughter had to write an essay in 6th grade of her favorite place she had ever been, she chose the Kachina Trail. Gorgeous and an easy hike.
