Owner description: Built in 1904 for two Riordan families, Riordan Mansion is an impressive reminder of gracious living in a small, territorial logging town. The historic building is an Arizona treasure — a remarkable example of Arts and Crafts style architecture featuring a rustic exterior of log-slab siding, volcanic stone arches, and hand-split wooden shingles. The expansive home has forty rooms, over 13,000 square-feet of living area, and servants' quarters. The Riordan residence was designed by the creator of Grand Canyon's El Tovar Hotel, Charles Whittlesey.

Wow, if you love Arts and Crafts style you will love this place. Big log cabin from the outside, sophisticated, modern 1930s home on the inside. Love the lines, inventive ways to house two well known local families. Amy the tour guide was knowledgeable but stiff and formal. Good gift shop. Outside tour is free, inside tour was arouind 10 dollars. Well worth your visit if you are ever in Flagstaff. Right on NAU campus. Lots of walking so seniors with wheelchairs will not be able to see entire house.

Visited Riordan Mansion while on a tour to NAU in April 2013. It gave a good overview of the history and development of Flagstaff. The mansion is large and nicely preserved. If you like craftsman architecture, you'll enjoy seeing the mansion. It is located on the edge of the university.

This tour was wonderful, the tour guide Geri was full of cool stories and kept it really lively, the visitors center staff were really nice and helpful. Wonderful staff made the time there awesome, don't MIS this tour. If you like arts and crafts homes this will knock you back. With a state park pass which we recommend for About $85.00 you can enter for free. $10.00 per person. Great value for a full all access tour of every room!

We wanted to visit Riordan Mansion once more before we moved from Arizona. In the past (? 10 years ago), the Mansion was surrounded by woods and in a gorgeous setting. Now it is a little oasis crushed on every side by highway, apartments and NAU.
We noticed that the docent did not share as much information as the original tour. (Perhaps, the change in ownership reflects this change.) It was extremely distracting that a group of NAU students were gathered in the courtyard behind the mansion. the noise they made was quite significant.
I would still recommend this tour and a visit to this important piece of Flagstaff history.

didn't take tour, ran out of time, but a perfect spot to stop for a picnic when your hotel isn't ready for check in!
Kids can play and explore a bit, shady and quiet. Next time will experience the mansion.
