“The Best Bargain in Flag”
Reviewed 31 August 2014 via mobile

Rooms are immaculate, the staff is super friendly, the location is good, the rates are a bargain. We stayed there about 6 times while we shopped for our house. Unless you need fancy this is the best in Flag.

Some others on TA had recommended this hotel and they were right on the money. Yes, the motel is older but immaculately clean. The rooms are surprisingly comfortable considering the location. This place even washes bedspreads between customers! How often is that done? The only suggestions I would make is to install a dual switch in the bathroom so you do not have to run the fan and light simultaneously and maybe a coffee pot in the rooms although fresh coffee is available in the office from .6:30 AM on. This is really a minor detail considering the price, location and comfort level.

Room Tip: This within walking distance of so many neat bars and old town Flagstaff. If you are looking for a G...

We enjoyed two stays at Highland Country Inn. It is centrally located, clean, comfortable and quiet and a very good budget value. A large natural health foods store is across the street so we picked up a delicious meal after a long day on the road.

Room Tip: Ask for ground floor.

Reasonable quality room but 'fridge didn't work. Functional, clean and good value for money as a base for exploring Grand Canyon, Sedona etc. Quiet location but well positioned to access Flagstaff town centre which is only a few minutes walk away. Check out Natural Grocers store across the road!

Across the street from the Northwest corner of the Northern Arizona University sets a comfortable, clean, well maintained little motel that is walking distance to downtown and the university. We have stayed there a several times since our daughter started college. The price is right, the hospitality excellent and the location perfect. You can't go wrong here.

Room Tip: Keep the fan on at night to block out traffic noise from the city.

Stayed at Highland Country Inn 24 & 25 July 2014. Certainly glad we were able to get a single King room- peeked into a double queen and both beds were against opposing walls with a 3 foot area between beds. Bed was very comfortable. Separate bathroom was clean and above average in size. Cost was good for Flagstaff on a summer weekend. Room had a good AC, mini-frig (after I turned it on), microwave, table and 2 chairs. Linens were plentiful and good quality. Owners were helpful with maps. More than 90% of the rooms were non-smoking and we didn't smell any smoke in the room. Parking was good. Easy walk to downtown area took 10-15 minutes. Room was on ground floor toward back - located just off of US 66 business with a straight shot to I-17. The traffic noise was minimal & train noise was non-existent- no problem sleeping. A high end organic grocery store was located right across the street. Definitely would stay there again for several nights.

I don't stay in Flagstaff much, but will stay here again. The room was inexpensive (+- $72 king non-smoking vs. Drury Inn across the street @ $160) and very clean. We wanted to stay close to downtown, but not along the train tracks. I think this was a good compromise for that. While you can hear the horn from a passing train, it was faint and the window was wide open. Definitely not enough to wake you.

It was about a $4 cab ride from Lumberyard Brewery. Probably not much of a walk, but it was raining and didn't really care to go that route... especially for $4 (pre-tip).

Directly across the side street is the organic grocery store. Even if organic isn't your thing, it's nice having something other than a gas station to get most anything you need (sunscreen, food, snacks, etc).

The room was pretty big, with a king-size bed, fridge, microwave, tv upon a 3 drawer dresser, table with 2 chairs, and a couple of bedside tables. Lots of room to toss any gear down. It looks like you could fit two queens, but might be a bit snug. The bathroom was average size for a motel (small, but not bad). The bed and pillows were comfortable.

They have coin operated laundry on the second floor. I didn't use it, so not sure the quality, but seems like a nice feature at any rate.

I booked through Orbitz, but prices were the same against other sites. Check-in took 2 minutes (the typical: fill out name, address, car make/model), checkout was 30 seconds.
