I visited Flagstaff a year ago. If you love nature, as I do, the area is hard to forget. Comfi Cottages has a great web-site with lots of pictures and reasonable rates, so I booked the smallest cottage. It has two rooms on the first floor and a small loft with a futon. The down comforter they provide is wonderful. Flagstaff can be cold at night, but the air is refreshingly clean. It's nice to leave the window cracked open at night and still be warm enough. Now, about the cottage... The hot water heater worked when it wanted to. The owner was informed. I feel I shouldn't have to ask for a discount for cold showers; it should be automatic. OK,even a fruit basket or pastries would have done the trick. The carpet was filthy. I could hear the neighbors through the thin bedroom walls. Teenage boys sure do like to make a lot of noise. The cottage is very close to the surrounding buildings, so it shares a small yard with the house in front of it. The parking area is difficult to navigate unless you have a compact car. And the place needed a good, thorough cleaning. Grocery shopping wasn't a problem because of the small strip mall located several hundred feet from the cottage. Would I stay there again? Probably not.

We stayed at one of the larger comfi cottages. When we got there, it was very hot, especially upstairs. We turned on the air conditioner. By morning, it was still too hot for any of us to sleep in the upstairs bedroom during the rest of our stay. We used it to store some of our stuff. It was fun to cook in the kitchen. We had our friend from Williams over to eat breakfast. The mattresses were not very comfortable. The neighborhood seemed a little run-down and seedy. But our friend told us that for Flagstaff, it was an expensive area.
