“Very Very Disappointing”
Reviewed 10 May 2014

We arrived, exhausted, around 12:30 in the afternoon to join up with an OARS group rafting down the Grand Canyon. OARS uses this facility to base their trips out of, Our reservations were made almost a year in advance before it became a Doubletree. We were told that our rooms were not ready and repeatedly told that check in was not until 4 pm. The front desk staff seemed overwhelmed and under staffed; repeatedly being interrupted by having to answer the phone. At the same time we watched many other guests get room assignments. So we went into the old town to have lunch and give the hotel some time to clean the rooms. We returned at 3pm and our rooms still weren't ready, yet we watched more guests get room assignments. Again we were reminded that check in wasn't until 4pm. So we crashed in the chairs in the lounge waiting. Did I mention that our ages run from 60 to 76? At 3:51 pm the staff finally did find rooms for us. Thank goodness. Once in our room we found that there were no glasses of any kind so we called the front desk and asked for a couple. They never showed up. Then at 7pm we met with the OARS group in one of the meeting rooms for an orientation. Unfortunately, Doubletree couldn't come up with any equipment to do the presentation so the OARS staff kind of had to wing it. The next morning we had breakfast at the hotel buffet for $15.00. It was HORRIBLE. cold eggs, cold french toast, unripe fruit. Just terrible. That breakfast was the icing on a qtherwise crummy experience. On the other hand the bed was really comfortable. My overall impression was that this hotel is very poorly managed.

Please accept our apologies that your stay did not meet you expectations. We appreciate your suggestions and will share them with our chefs and servers whose goal is to serve our guests fresh, tasty, healthy meals. We apologize for the wait you experienced while checking in, as well. Though we do everything we can to accommodate guests prior to our official check-in time..it is not always possible. We are pleased you found the beds comfortable and on your next visit to Flagstaff, we hope you'll give us another opportunity to provide you with the excellent food and service that we are known for.

We had just finished a long hard day and it was like coming home. The room and bed were so comfortable and a hot bath then warm robe. We brought food to the room and it was delicious with a glass of ice cold milk. Plan on staying there any time we are in Flagstaff for the night.

I have stayed at many Double Tree property's and would have to say this one is one of the best I have stayed at. The staff was great. We spent time in the bar and ordered food at the restaurant and all was great service and wonderful food. I highly recommend this property

We visited the hotel as part of a trip in September last year.

As we didn't choose the hotel, we were not expecting too much!

We got a very nice room with a nice view and the beds were comfy.

We didn't eat at the hotel as a taxi into town was only about $6 (that was to beaverstreet brewery - see my other review).

Nothing negative to say about the hotel, the staff were nice and helpful.

Tip - there is a supermarket and a few other shops just a minute walk down the hill. Good for a bit of breakfast (fresh muffins/pastries).

8oz Rib Eye Steak at $27. If your going to serve 8oz steak, then charge no more than $16. If you want to serve a 14oz steak, then $27 is more appropriate. Bottle of water $5.00. I later went to the store to buy the same water bottle, brand and oz. The store charges $1.83 for the same thing. I don't mind to pay a little extra for convenience, but don't charge me 2.73 times the street value.

Please accept our apologies that you didn't find that our bottled water or Rib Eye were a good value for you. We'll review pricing with our management team to ensure we are not overcharging for what we are providing. Thank you for the feedback.

After a hiatus from a brand and a big makeover, the Woodlands is back! I enjoy this hotel, and the change from Radisson to Hilton didn't change that. Rooms are still lovely and spacious, and the bed was comfy. I really enjoy the thick, fluffy bath towels. Adding a cookie (delicious and chocolatey) to check in was a great idea! Now if only there were coffee in the lobby...

Thank you for continuing to choose the 'Woodlands' -- now DoubleTree by Hilton Flagstaff. We're so pleased you enjoy staying with us. Though we do offer complimentary coffee in all of our guestrooms, we'll propose this suggestion to our management team as a guest request.

We stayed two days at the DoubleTree. The room was clean as was the rest of the property. The staff was very friendly and helpful with local places to eat and see. The property was easy to find and is located not to far from the major highways. The lounge was under construction, but they did a nice job of taking care of us after a long day.
