Check in very helpful. They gave us complimentary water upon arrival and coupons for their snack area. They gave us directions and suggestions to several local restaurants. Room were very clean and it was a quiet place to stay. My family has stayed here before and was pleased.

Stayed here with the family as a base to explore the Flagstaff area. The hotel is nice and conveniently located. There are restaurants nearby, the historic district is a short drive and the interstate is close.

The property is typical Hilton, nothing fancy. The room was clean as were the pool/spa areas. Staff was friendly and helpful.

We did have an issue with some noise, although I didn't bother to mention it to staff. We were located on the back side, adjacent to Coco's Restaurant. During our first night, between 1 AM and 1:30 AM a couple of people were talking loudly outside. I don't know if the people wer restaurant or hotel patrons, employees or just people hanging out. But they were loud, woke me up and kept me awake for a bit.

The next bit of noise occurred the following night. We were near the stairway and for some reason, people on the third floor felt the need to walk like a herd of elephants, around their room and up and down the stairs.

I would probably stay at the hotel again, but I'd ask for a room away from the restaurant and away from the stairs.

Oh yeah, skip the breakfast. I was told it comes over from Coco's. It wasn't expensive but then again, it wasn't very good.

Room Tip: Stay away from Coco's and the stairways.

We had a very good stay at this location.
POSITIVES:
-Very clean
-Comfortable beds
-Nice size room
-Nice big flat screen TV
-Great breakfast
-Overall Decor is very nice... great landscaping (Apparantly a Hilton Garden trademark)
-The staff was extremely friendly
-Great location
-You do get a little street noise but the hotel is basicaly quiet.
-Over-all, a very good value.
NEGATIVES:
-You have to be careful with the hot water, it will scald you.
-If you are a light sleeper the AC unit is a train wreck. It is very loud and apparently the compressor has an interlock that turns the fan off every time the compressor goes off. It would have been nice to let the fan run continously so the transition of the compressor turning on and off wouldn't wake us up. They have the ability to fix this because there is an auto setting on the thermostat and we have stayed in other hotels that had the same Amana unit that did give you the option of running the fan continuously. I debated about complaining to the front desk about this, but I convinced myself that they wouldn't understand, and I sure it doesn't bother most of their guests.
-I guess it"s just me, but I don't like big thick foam pillows. It would have been nice to have at least one feather pillow. The Holiday Inn Express usually does have at least one feather pillow for each bed.
-Without being able to leave the AC fan on during the night, the refrigerator kicking on and off was also a little annoying.

Room Tip: Pick a room on the top floor... kids jumping off the bed upstairs will rattle your nerves.

This is a nice hotel & I would stay here again. It is convenient to the university & across the street from a small shopping area. There is a variety of restaurants nearby - fast food to high end chain restaurants within walking distance. There is also shopping available nearby - grocery, retail, etc.

We were two couples travelling from New Zealand for our first stay in Flagstaff. We only stayed one night at the Hilton Garden Inn but were pleasantly surprised by the location, very friendly staff, cleanliness and comfort of our room. We paid $9.95 each for a breakfast buffet of good quality and variety; the lady overseeing the breakfast deserves a mention for her attention to her guests. We had a pleasant and comfortable overnight stay; no negatives to mention.

Prior reviewers have in both their strands of praise and strands of criticism pretty much nailed this property right on the head. We found it to be clean and adequate to our needs and we would not be disappointed to stay again. But it's a somewhat older property - converted to a Hilton Garden Inn - and it has a few off notes likely to leave those who know the Hilton chains well at least a little underwhelmed.

We stayed two nights. Check-in was smooth and the front desk staff were engaging and helpful through check-out. Our room was very clean. It was not particularly quiet, though. The issue was not road noise or a loud neighboring business. It was thin walls. Our neighbors weren't raucous or disrespectful. It was just hard not to hear even normal conversation in the adjoining room and typical hallway activity. Not much to be done about that, but it did affect our sleep - and we're not light sleepers.

Breakfast is a strange affair. There are the usual continental offerings, and hot foods served buffet-style, brought over from the restaurant next door. Nothing is cooked to order, unlike at other HGIs (all other HGIs in our experience). Some of the "hot" buffet food wasn't hot, and much of it wasn't turning over enough to make it very appealing. Worse, the breakfast isn't free, so this isn't a gift-horse critique. The charge is the same as at other HGIs - $10 or so, or in our case (as Hilton Honors gold members) breakfast vouchers instead of some bonus points. If we had it to do over again, we'd take the extra points and eat breakfast somewhere else. The property may not have control over this issue but it's clear that many people don't appreciate being marketed the "Great American Grill" and led to believe they're getting the typical HGI breakfast (at the typical HGI cost) - but actually getting much less for that same cost.

In sum, the property is conveniently located and the common areas and rooms are clean and nicely maintained. Service (apart from the on-site food) was excellent. But the unusually thin walls (almost certainly a relic of the days before this was an HGI that would be very costly to address) and the poor excuse for the "Great American Grill" breakfast move the place down a couple of notches.

Dear Baker1197:

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us in Flagstaff. We truly appreciate all your feedback. We thank you for for your high praise of our hotel, especially our cleanliness and customer service. I want to personally apologize that the breakfast did not meet your expectations. A good breakfast in pleasant surroundings is part of our promise to you. I apologize that this was not your experience. You can be confident that we will follow-up on
your concerns so that others are not disappointed as you were.

One factual error with your review I would like to point out is that we are not a conversion property. We are very proudly the 3rd Hilton Garden Inn ever built.

Nice hotel & staff BUT our stay was marred by the fact that our padlocked bags were broken into in their bag store & cash was stolen. Not a large amount but disturbing. We called the police to report this but the hotel has stood by the usual 'no liability' stance & even said 'there is no evidence the theft occurred on the property' which means they are effectively accusing us of lieing to the police. For this reason we will not return here. They really should have a proper lock on the door AND full CCTV coverage.
