“Beautiful hotel, charming city”
Reviewed 22 April 2012

The hotel itself is lovely, and the staff is very helpful and friendly. I had perhaps the hotel's smallest room, but it was immaculate--and I had a view of St. Louis' gothic steeple. It is in a walkable area of town, though your "personal butler" will drive you wherever you wish to go within certain limits. There are complementary drinks in the late afternoon (the red wine was a very good choice) and a varied breakfast offered each morning. For dinner I had the pizza from the kitchen, and it was delicious. If I return to Buffalo, I will definitely be staying at this hotel!
One more thing--go see the Frank Lloyd Wright Prairie House near the zoo, and plan to take the 2 hour tour.

Thank you for your review...and for the kind words about the hotel and it's staff. The Mansion does offer a variety of different room types, but all rooms provide the same services, amenities, decor...and great views of Downtown Buffalo! There are many historic cathedrals within walking distance of MoDA and the views are beautiful - St. Louis Cathedral, Trinity Church and a 19th C house of worship that has been transformed into the headquarters for singer Ani DiFranco's Righteous Babe Records, to name a few. We believe our city is highly 'walkable' and we're glad to hear you feel the same...although the Butler driven Land Rover is perfect for those destinations a bit further out! We have shared your comments regarding menus at MoDA with Chef, thank you - the next time you visit be sure to order the Cheese and Fruit Plate, which Chef has just updated with selections of artisanal, hand crafted cheeses from a local Buffalo cheese maker - outstanding quality! So glad to hear you enjoyed the Frank Llloyd Wright tour - the Darwin Martin House has just announced a new tour called "All Wright All Day" which is a day long tour of the Frank Lloyd Wright Martin House Complex, Graycliff Estate, historic Forest Lawn Cemetery, lunch at Buffalo Yacht Club and other historic/architectural destinations. We look forward to welcoming you back to Buffalo and The Mansion on Delaware Avenue on your next visit to the East Coast!

My friend and I went to Buffalo for the Bruce Springsteen concert, stayed at the Mansion for one night. What a pleasant surprise to find that the Butlers would change a dinner reservation for us, drive us to the restaurant and pick us up again to take us to the train that would get us to the concert. Every member of the staff was friendly and helpful. The atmosphere of the hotel is warm and charming, beautifully decorated. Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

The Mansio has the best staff and friendliest atmosphere of any place I have stayed. From the greeting of Rachel, to the checkin process with Stacey, to the assistance with anything by Kent, James and Lauren, I highly recommend the Mansion on Delaware.

My husband, daughter (8) and I stayed at The Mansion on Delaware for a night. The visit was perfect. This hotel could not be any more family friendly. The Butlers made each member of our family feel welcome and met every possible need. It was a very warm and welcome atmosphere.
When inquiring about restaurants they made sure they suggested family friendly establishments.
We were very impressed with the home’s interior, very well restored and beautiful. The hotel offers a the free cocktail hour with a great selection of wines and a breakfast with very healthy options.
We will be back!

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with the tripadvisor community. The comprehensive knowledge the Butler Team has of the Buffalo/Niagara region helps families, leisure and business travelers make the most of their Buffalo experience - we're glad they could assist with family-friendly suggestions. I'm glad you appreciated the wine selection on the fully stocked honor bar - the hotel's Special Events Manager, Lisa, creates our wine selection of 8-9 offerings daily and chooses wines that are either produced in small quantities, sustainably farmed or biodynamic. These vineyards usually turn out a great product due to an extreme attention to detail during the wine making process and a respect for the land and vines. So glad to hear you'll be back - we look forward to welcoming you!

My wife and I went to Buffalo for a short trip. After reviewing the reviews on the web, we decided on the Mansion. What a great choice!
When we checked into our room, we went upstairs and within 5 minutes the butler had parked our car and brought our luggage to the room. We used the shuttle service all night and it was super.

Our room was at the very front of the house and had a nice fireplace and very ample bathroom.

My wife and I were most impressed with the honor bar. All of the liquor was top shelf. I cannot drink alcohol due to a medical condition and I was incredibly surprised to open the refrigerator and find Buckler NA beer. Most places do not even think to carry NA, let alone Buckler which is one of the best.

The breakfast was also very nice, European style( salads, meats and cheeses in addition to standard American cereals and pastries). We even had some scallops wrapped in bacon at our breakfast spread.

In short, the Mansion deserves the Number 1 ranking!

Thank you! As a traveler who uses online reviews to plan your trips you understand how valuable your review is to other travelers. So glad to hear you enjoyed the complimentary valet parking and downtown Land Rover transportation - it's always a luxury to have your car valeted upon arrival and then not need to use it again until it's waiting curbside for you upon departure. Thank you for sharing your preference for Buckler NA - we are always updating the premium Honor Bar wine, spirits & beer selections and we give special attention and priority to guest feedback, preferences and requests. A perennial favorite amenity of MoDA guests is the hotel's unique, European breakfast - we're excited to announce that we have added a hot breakfast item to this complimentary breakfast buffet as another option for guests. Thank you for choosing The Mansion on Delaware Avenue and we hope to welcome you back on your next trip to Buffalo.

My husband and I arrived in the parking lot and the Butler was right there to take our bags. He led us to check in and then to our room. We stayed in a suite that had a king bed, the only one since all the other rooms have queen beds. We were shown around since it was our first time there. They have the Billards Room where they keep Happy Hour. And there was another room across the hall with tea and coffee. Reservation were made by the Butler for a restaurant down the road. They drove us to the restaurant however we chose to walk back to the Mansion. When we arrived back, our room was turned down for the evening and the in room fire places were on. The next morning the Continential Breakfast contained fruits, nuts, danishes, breads, hard boiled eggs, yougurt, juices, milk, coffee... Everything was wonderful. Thank you!

It becomes very clear after looking around for a hotel in Buffalo that the choices are limited. The Mansion sticks out right away as something unique. THe history and architecture of the house are unique. The staff call soem of themselves Butlers, which is kind of cool and seem to really buy into the concept. THe main room is stately and they have an honor bar so that you can have a free drink or two during happy hour. They have a small but excellent top shelf asortment of alcohol. The breakfast can be eaten in your room or downstairs. My only complaint with breakfast is that there isnt any hot food (eggs, waffles, meat) otherwise is was small but did the job. The room was a little bit of an issue. Not all rooms at the Mansion are created equal. I was in 208 and it was nice but once you see the other rooms it becomes apparent that the older stately rooms are larger, have much higher ceilings and are most likely what you see in their brochure. Its not that the room was bad, its just once you see what you are missing you might feel like an unwanted step child. That aside, they leave cookis at the turn down service! Only other complaints are no ipod dock for radio - this is a must in a first class hotel! and the hallway noise is comes right into the room! They need a plastic door sweep to fill in the one inch gap between the floor and bottom of door. Oh yes, the bathtub jacuzzi is a nice feature. Aroma for dinner or sunday brunch is a must (957 elmwood) The elmwood area is such a wonderful surprise. Great restaurants and night life - who knew Buffalo was so hip!

Room Tip: Ask them to see the rooms first. At the back of the hotel the rooms seem like an afterthought compar...

Thank you for your review of MoDA AND the city - we agree that our 'hip' town is a well kept secret and always a great surprise to guests! We're so glad you enjoyed your Buffalo experience and your night at The Mansion. As with most hotels, The Mansion offers several different tiers of guestrooms - from Classic Tier Guestrooms to Grand Tier Guestrooms through to Suites. All guestroom tiers enjoy the same services, amenities and decor; with the difference from tier to tier being size and architectural features. You had reserved a Classic Guestroom, room 208, which is a standard size hotel guestroom. I must correct your statement regarding the 'older stately rooms' - there was no addition to the 30,000 square foot building and all guestrooms at MoDA are housed in the original historic building. It is not accurate to say that higher tier guestrooms with more architectural features are located only in the front of the hotel; when developing the hotel in this historic structure the architects followed the original footprint of the building and created guestrooms throughout the building which have different architectural features from room to room. Directly next to your guestroom are two Fireplace Premium Grand guestrooms with original fireplaces and architecturally significant windows. If you would prefer a more architecturally significant guestroom on your next visit, I suggest reserving a Grand or Premium Grand Tier guestroom. Remember, you will still receive the same Butler service, complimentary Land Rover transport, complimentary hi-speed internet, European Breakfast, turn down service, cocktails, etc. regardless of which tier room you reserve! We agree wholeheartedly about the ipod connectivity and we are very excited about the new technology package currently being developed for ALL guestrooms! We hope to welcome you again soon!
