Erie Basin Marina Gardens
Ranked #42 of 159 things to do in Buffalo

If walks around the waterfront and flowers are your "thing", than this is a place that needs to be seen ! The Buffalo waterfront is growing and improving all the time. When entering the Erie Basin Marina you will drive past some of the nicest award winning rose gardens anywhere. Park here and start your walk through the gardens. Then continue down the seawall to the Hatch and have an ice cream before continuing to the Tower at the end of the marina and enjoy a view of Lake Erie and the city. If you leave the marina and go the other direction to the Navy Park and on to the Erie Canal Museum and enjoy !

Buffalo is really trying to spruce up its waterfront. Every time I have been there lately I see progress. A nice place to walk along the water, have a drink or snack and watch boats.

If you love gardening, you will enjoy this garden. It's not huge, but it is lovely and well maintained. Best of all, as a test garden, you can see the up and coming new plants you'll want to be on the lookout for.

The garden features roses, perennials and annuals. It is situated right on the waterfront and next to a hot dog/ice cream type restaurant. If you are going to one of the free concerts down at canalside, arrive early and walk along the paved waterfront path to see the garden. (But DON'T park at the marina, it closes before the concert ends and you could wind up with a ticket.) If you are coming just for the gardens, do park there, it is free and adjacent to the garden.

Nothing better than FREE and this is it! Always a fun place to people watch, throw out a blanket and read or eat a picnic lunch. Pick up a ticket for the Miss Buffalo boat cruise or head down to the 'end of the road' and climb the stairs atop the Lookout Tower; beautiful during a sunset and during the day...Fun and Free; can't get much better than that :-)

Each trip to Buffalo, you must make the short drive down to the new and updated Waterfront.

Near the large ships you must stop by the last remaining lock of the Eire Canal. All the other Buffalo locks have been buried in the construction of the I 90 New York Thruway.

The big ships are interesting but the prize viewing are the gardens around the Marina and overlooking the Lake!!
