Craft shows, live music, dancing, rent a water vessel, have ice cream, check out the big war ships, have a beer - or just hang out on a big Adirondack chair and people watch. Excellent place to be in Buffalo.

It was wonderful to sit in a colorful Adirondack chair and watch sailboats, kayakers, and people pass by. There were lots of people there both young and old. The day we were there, there was a huge group of men and women being lead through a yoga workout. There are sailboats and riverboats that will take you along the Buffalo River to see the grain silos. Did you know that Buffalo is where all the Cheerio cereal is made for the entire US East Coast?

I walked over here after visiting the Naval park with my kids (age 1 & 4). There were plenty of places to sit and enjoy looking at the water. My kids enjoyed the giant sand area complete with sand toys. We stopped and got some food at a stand in the park. It was pretty expensive for what it was (hot dogs and chicken wrap) but it was good. There were also boat rides available but we did not have time to try that.

Buffalo is really working to improve its image and it starts with Canalside. This is a lovely area of the city that connects to the Marina and the Naval and Servicemens Park. On Saturdays until 5pm in the summer there is an artisan market and food trucks to purchase goodies from. The landscaping and flowers are beautiful. A big sandlot , ping pong tables etc provide fun for adults and kids. There are concerts, boats to look at and chairs everywhere to sit and enjoy the sun.

This is a lovely area of Buffalo which is alongside the lower river into Lake Erie. Beautiful flowers, places to sit, restaurants.. the navl park, the commercial slip from the heyday of the Erie Canal. Definitely worth a visit.
