What a landscape! Cruise on the Buffalo River to see where Cheerios are made! Then the abandoned grain elevators. Take a pontoon boat or rent a kayak or other self-propelled craft.

While visiting in July I made a trip to the Canal side area and i was very pleased to see what has been done to the area. It rivals many other great waterfronts around the country and its incredibly rich in history. Glad to see the people of Buffalo and the state wrestling the waterfront back from the crooks who held it captive for over a century. Well Done!

It was wonderful to see how lively and active Buffalo can be. After all the bad that people say about the city, I think visitors will be pleasantly surprised to see how nice Buffalo really is. At Canalside there was plenty to do. Tourists can buy tickets to ride the Spirit of Buffalo, a really beautiful ship. Live music was playing at one end and at the other was a food place where people could order foods like hot dogs or hamburgers. The day I was there, a yoga class was in progress behind the vending shops where people sold all sorts of products from and about Buffalo and Canalside. The only fee at Canalside was Buffalo's naval ship yard where World War II ships USS Little Rock, USS Sullivan and the USS Croaker were docked and tourists are allowed to explore the ships (which is what the fee is for). Kids 5 and under are free however. Also in the shipyard was a walk-through path where people could have a look at America's history during World War II and the Korean War. All over Canalside were convenient places to sit down in the shade and take in the beauty of the city. The best part is that our furry, four-legged family members are welcomed at Canalside. Trashcans are located all over the park so if our pals with paws need to "go", disposal of said waste wont be a problem. However, they aren't allowed on the naval ships. Altogether, my trip to Buffalo and Canalside was wonderful and I highly recommend that more people go to visit this historical city. It was a fun time for the whole family and the people there do a great job at centering something for every member of the family, kids too. It's a shame that so many people will ignorantly disregard this beautiful city.

Craft shows, live music, dancing, rent a water vessel, have ice cream, check out the big war ships, have a beer - or just hang out on a big Adirondack chair and people watch. Excellent place to be in Buffalo.

It was wonderful to sit in a colorful Adirondack chair and watch sailboats, kayakers, and people pass by. There were lots of people there both young and old. The day we were there, there was a huge group of men and women being lead through a yoga workout. There are sailboats and riverboats that will take you along the Buffalo River to see the grain silos. Did you know that Buffalo is where all the Cheerio cereal is made for the entire US East Coast?
