I have been in Buffalo for business over the past several months and I work a few blocks from Cafe 59, so I used to go there often with a couple of co-workers (sometimes several times per week). The food there is fresh and of high quality. The servings are also very generous which is great. On Saturdays they serve breakfast all day which is one of my favorites. Unfortunately, there is a guy who works there on Saturdays named Nick who on several occasions made religiously discriminatory comments to us several times, knowing that we work for a Church. It actually was quite insulting and ignorant beyond belief. Needless to say this made for an unpleasant experience. It's because of him that we don't go there anymore, as who needs that? It's a shame, too, as otherwise the food and staff are great.

Café 59’s menu has something for everyone — and that includes vegans and vegetarians (not many options in town for this demographic, so this is a great option). My choice was from the small plates menu: roasted vegetables, which included eggplant, zucchini, portabella mushrooms, along with fresh field greens and a delicious house balsamic vinaigrette and three pieces of pita. Along with many other options from the small plates section, there are salads, soups (three yesterday, including fennel/tomato bisque and greens/black eyed peas), and a variety of hot and cold sandwiches. Everything we had was excellent, inexpensive, and portions were large. The restaurant uses the freshest ingredients and many local vendors and products. This was my first visit, and I know I’ll be back — soon!

it is refreshing to see a place that makes all there soups and baked goods from scratch and has mostly local products. You also get free wi-fi and crayons to doodle with when you eat in.

Our mission in Buffalo was not pleasant, so finding this cafe was priceless. The aroma upon entering, so enticing. Bright, open, friendly staff. This place should make alot about their soups. The best! A curried sweet potato, a vegetable tortellini, a moroccan chick pea. Heaven. Followed up with great salads, a mediteranean, chicken, and a grilled cheese sandwich. Even the music, quiet blues, just in the background. We felt nourished and healed.
