It's always a fun time there. Bring friends, family and relax and enjoy some great acting. They pass the hat but it's worth it.

“So many good reasons to be here”
Reviewed 4 March 2014

There aren't many places ion the country -- or the world -- to see a good production of Shakespeare's plays, let alone at no charge. SDP's two outdoor productions are generally of VERY high quality, and they're FREE. Take a bottle of wine, some cheese and crackers -- or pizza and beer, or get a Polish sausage and a Coke from the vendor -- sit on the hill on a blanket or lawn chair, and ENJOY. At intermission, the actors "pass the hat," and a donation equal to the price of a movie ticket is probably the norm -- but feel free to support the arts and give more, or if you can't give anything, go and enjoy it anyway: you won't be hustled for a donation. Gotta love the Bard!

“Great Art for FREE”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

Try to pick a day that is dry the night before and take chairs and wine and a picnic. The plays are always wonderfully done with great additions like original music and some days a concert before the plays begin. The stage backs up against the Delaware park lake, surrounded by trees, and a great rose garden adjacent. During the summer two of Shakespear's plays are offered. You can find out what is being offered by catching a copy of Artvoice newspaper at most stores and restaurants.

“as we like it”
Reviewed 22 November 2013

year in and year out, this remarkable troupe presents challenging takes on Shakespeare for nary a farthing on the hill, and the outside distractions -- the trotting dogs, the howling sirens, the occasional mosquito -- but do add to the general merriment or tragedy... players collect funds at intermission, so do come prepared... just a marvelous, communal experience...

“This is what makes Buffalo a great place to live!”
Reviewed 15 October 2013

Free, free, totally free. What a gem! Shakespeare in the Park is quality entertainment offered throughout the summer. Bring a blanket, a chair, a picnic dinner and just relax in this beautiful park. This past summer's performance of Measure for Measure was hilarious and fun! Loved it. Always love it. I hope Shakespeare in the Park has at least another 38 more seasons!
