“Great idea for a fun weeknight out!”

Fun performance and laid back atmosphere. Bring some camping or lawn chairs and your favorite snacks and drinks for a cheap, fun night out. Get there early if you can to stake out a spot too!

“Shakespeare under the stars”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 August 2014

My family spent a beautiful evening watching one of the best performances we have seen (so far). First the sound system was working perfectly. The crowd (and it was crowded) was very well behaved and the performance was spot on. The song and dance performance of this classic was very entertaining and we enjoyed every minute. A must see before it's gone - 8/17/14 is the last performance.

“Comedy of Errors - starring Mike Randall - Hugely Entertaining !”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 July 2014

I give this production 5 stars ! To enhance your enjoyment of the play, understand what is going on and "get" the many funny mistaken identity occurrences, you'll need to know a bit of background. There are 2 sets of identical twins - separated at birth. They just happen to land in the same city (& wear the same clothes and have the exact same names -- Antipholus & Dromio, his manservant). This is explained quickly at the play's start by their father so if you are not paying close attention - you'll be confused. But quickly you'll start to catch on to what's happening & it's so funny & refreshingly interpreted by the excellent cast that includes 2 of my favorite Buffalo regulars - Norm Sham & Lisa Ludwig, Sham is especially wonderful as Dromio and he gives us some witty adlibs and asides in the play that makes it all the more enjoyable. Plus - I won't spoil the ending & if you are not familiar with the play as we were not, then you are sure to have a surprising treat in store. Also, see if you can figure out which part Mike Randall (ch.7 weatherman) plays without peeking at the play brochure ( we could not !). What we love about these productions is the interesting & offbeat interpretation they are always given by the director & this one is no exception. This is NOT some stuffy production but one filled with odd costumes & quirky music & techno scenery. You'll laugh out loud at plenty of scenes & dialogue. The best part of course is deciding what you want to take for your picnic as you watch the play. Go early & have a nice al-fresco dinner, then bring munchies & snacks like we do once the play starts. To everyone who has never before tried Shakespeare in Delaware Park or thinks they won't like it - Comedy of Errors is a very short play & I envy the exciting discovery you have before you.

“Love going to Shakespeare in Delaware Park!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 July 2014

Shakespeare in Delaware Park is the second largest FREE Shakespeare Theater Company in the United States! It is outdoors and produces two Shakespearean plays per year during the summer. Opening night for The Comedy of Errors was Thursday, July 24th. It runs nightly through Sunday, August 17th at 7:30 PM except for Mondays. Bring your children, your blanket or your chair, if you prefer and whatever snacks or meals and libations that you like and have a wonderful evening under the stars while watching a professional theater company perform a Shakespearean play. Come early for a really good seat. The Comedy of Errors is a totally fun play performed in "Steam Punk" style and is a total rip! Come out to support live theater. Give what you can when the actors "pass the hat" at intermission and enjoy. Come back as often as you like to gain a better understanding of the play and to see the play develop throughout the run of the play. A best buy in Buffalo!
