Forest Lawn is not your typical cemetery...it is filled with art, architecture and Buffalo's rich history. Truly one of the most beautiful cemeteries. For first time visitors, there are different guided walking and trolley tours that discuss the monuments and Buffalo's once wealthy who lived there. Check out their website for further details. Also, be sure to see Frank Lloyd Wright's work right here in the cemetery!

“History, Art and Adventure”
Reviewed 5 October 2013

Recently visited Forest Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo for a private tour. Our guide Peter was very informative. He pointed out interesting things to see and gave us a history lesson. This cemetery has some of the most beautiful artwork I have ever seen.
Peter knew about the different eras of artwork and the trends in burials. He gave us great information about the culture surrounding rituals.
This is a must see for anyone interested in history or art. A self-guided tour is free but a paid guide is well worth the price. Tours in a trolley car are available for people who aren't capable of a lot of walking. There are many hills and the ground is not even.

“What beautiful grounds”
Reviewed 2 October 2013

Wished we would have been able to go on a tour when we visited. My family and I drove through, where we watched joggers, people picnicking and a burial taking place. The lawns, roads, ponds, are immaculate. We felt like we were in a park not a cemetery. They also have headstones that we have never seen anywhere else before. Definitely worth a visit if you have the time to stroll through, drive though - or plan and take a tour.

You must come and visit us during the winter too. The grounds are lovely this time of the year too, especially after the first snowfall. A winter wonderland!

“FOREST LAWN & FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT BUFFALO, NY”
Reviewed 30 September 2013

Interested in Frank Lloyd Wright? You need to consider a trip to Forest Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo, NY. Brother-in-laws John Larkin & Elbert Hubbard were co-owners of the Larkin Soap Company. Hubbard left to start the Roycroft American Arts and Crafts Community in East Aurora. Elbert’s parents, sisters, nieces and nephews are buried in the Larkin Plot. FLW was hired by Larkin through Darwin Martin’s influence to come to Buffalo to build an Administration Building for the Larkin Soap Company. FLW designed the Blue Sky Mausoleum for Martin. Blue Sky and the Martin plot are also featured at FL.

You are so "Wright" . Not only is the Wright designed Blue Sky Mausoleum at Forest Lawn but most of the folks that had homes designed by the master Frank Lloyd Wright are buried there too. The new memorial to Darwin Martin is a beautiful Wright inspired design and can also be seen at Forest Lawn along with the Larkin family and Wm Heath sites.

“I live here and bike ride daily here”
Reviewed 15 September 2013

This place is one of a kind and is a whose who of Buffalo history. A former president and the founding fathers of Buffalo are all resting peacefully here. The military section on Memorial Day is just stunning with all the American Flags. I love to just bike ride through Forest Lawn and it is surprisingly extremely hilly. No admission price either!
