“Beautiful cemetery”
Reviewed 12 June 2014

Forest Lawn is an oasis of peace in the city of Buffalo.
It's park like grounds are lovely in any season but especially beautiful in the fall. There are many notable people buried here.
You can do a walking tour or one of the Sunday afternoon narrated trolley tours. I've been here many times and always learn something new.

“Well-kept, interesting place to spend a sunny morning”
Reviewed 30 May 2014

If you are looking for a peaceful place to take a walk/run, or you have an interest in cemeteries or local lore, this is a good stop. You can get a map of the cemetery at the front entrance which lists "famous" people's burial sites and the sections. You need time to do this, however, because the map only gives you the Section, but you'll need to search the stones within the large sections to find the grave. There were metal markers signs near many of them, though. Not many "famous" people, most were important in local Buffalo. My daughter was interested to see the lady's grave who founded Flag Day, though. We searched for Martha Washington's great-grandaugher but never found her. We saw three deer while walking though, many geese and ducks. Very peaceful place right in the middle of the city. Many interesting monuments, including the Blue Sky one by Frank Lloyd Wright.

“Run In Peace”
Reviewed 22 May 2014

The majestic gates of Forest Lawn beckon grandly to tombstones designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, the Chapel, a serene pond hosted by ducks, and Rick James' gravesite. Painted lines help you not get lost, if you aren't fortunate enough to have a tour guide as a friend, as I did. I enjoyed running quietly along the circular paths as I lost myself in imagining all the lives that came to rest around me. I have family in Forest Lawn, but you don't need to to feel its power.

Beautiful and peaceful place to go for a stroll or a run. A lot of history and architectural gems... Mirror lake is stunning. Be sure to get a tour or buy the field guide at the front office.

Good day Al J,

Loved the title of your post. Very clever!

We are happy you stopped by and were impressed with our beautiful site. The next few weeks will be even more beautiful as the over 3500 trees, including Japanese cherry trees, magnolia and other rare specimen trees, will bloom and add variety to the landscape. Our bird watching tours start next weekend at 8am... that is also a lot of fun.
