“Glimpses into a bygone age”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 August 2014

Beautiful houses - mansions really - line this prestigious road. Maybe they hark back to a golden, bygone age when Newport was the place for second (or third, or fourth etc.) grand homes.

Sadly, one cannot see much from the roadside so perhaps it is glimpses at best.

“Skip the Cliff Walk and take Bellevue Avenue instead”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 August 2014

The Cliff Walk is an enjoyable seaside stroll but only offers limited views (and some not at all) of some of the oceanside homes. Many visitors to Newport don't realize that virtually all of the most spectacular homes are in fact located right along Bellevue Avenue. My advice (if you enjoy a hardy walk) is to head down Bellevue from Newport catching the gorgeous homes that line the street and visit the ones you're most interested in. Of all the homes operated by the Preservation Society of Newport only two, The Breakers and Chepstow, are not located on Bellevue. The street is lined with trees which provide shade to keep you cool on a hot summer's day. When you're done, you can catch the trolley back into Newport - it runs every 20 minutes and each stop has a detailed schedule.

“Spectacular Mansions.”

Newport is a lovely place. We had a long walk in this avenue but has a beautiful scenery. The Mansions are old fashion & amazing surrounded by beautiful trees. Its worth the stroll. Overall: Great.

After doing the cliff walk, we walked the distance of Bellevue Avenue and saw the magnificent groups and entrances of the mansions - quite a site

“Mother daughter vacation”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 August 2014

Bellevue Avenue was really cool. A lot of stores. It's a nice walk especially on a sunny day. If you need a drug store that is where it's located. If you drive instead of taking the bus, there is a parking lot but you have to pay. You can get an all day pass for the 67 bus for $6.00 well worth it. It drops and picks you up all along the hot spots.
