“Not the best way to see the fabulous homes”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 August 2014

The Cliff Walk is an enjoyable way to circumnavigate much of the peninsula containing Newport's finest homes. However, the views of many of the homes are partially or wholly obscured and at times the walk crosses large boulders and gravel sections making it difficult to navigate for some.

Owners of many of the seaside homes have done a fabulous job landscaping their properties so you can't see anything. Can you blame them given the number of people walking the path? Frankly, we found the best views to be from the mansions themselves with one of the best being from the back of Rosecliff.

The other thing to keep in mind is that there are only a limited number of access points to the path and the last section of almost two miles in length (which goes past Rosecliff and Marble House) has none. Bring water and comfortable walking shoes if you're planning on walking large sections of the walk.

“Cliff walk is in great shape”

Can't beat walking with the ocean on one side and beautiful mansions on the other. Very walkable mostly flat path with few exceptions.

“Stunning view”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 August 2014

I really wish we had taken the time to go earlier. If you start near the mansions and work your way back toward main you can walk out to the beach. There are so many great views and bench to sit and relax on (bring a small lunch and relax looking out at the ocean). If you're visiting Newport you need to make time to go here.

“Must do in Newport........”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 August 2014

If you get to Newport and are able to walk, do the Cliff Walk. I think most of it is accessible by wheelchair as it is paved. The views of the bay and backside of mansions are impressive. I especially like Salve Regina College. Salute!
